HOW DO I OPEN DOORS THAT HAVE BEEN CLOSED BEFORE ME?

What must I do to open the doors that have been shut before me?

Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the topics most often discussed by many Christians—especially in this final church age—is about how to open doors that have been closed before us.

Many of us tend to look for quick solutions just so those doors can open. That’s when you find some going to ministers to be prayed for, others seeking out places where certain “anointing oils” or “blessed waters” are sold. Some even look for people to read their stars or to prophesy over them. Many such things are happening among Christians today.

Sadly, after all of that, many still remain in the same condition. Why? Because those are not the ways God has established to open closed doors.

The Bible says in:

Job 22:21  “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you.”

To know God means to seek the knowledge of His will. Without that knowledge, it is very easy to perish.

So today, in a very brief way, we’ll use the Bible to understand how to open doors that are closed before us. But first, remember—not every closed door before you is the work of the devil! Some have been shut by God Himself, for His divine purpose. And we know God’s purposes are always good.

So we will look at how to open all kinds of doors—whether closed by God or by Satan.

Let’s read:

Revelation 3:7-8 –

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David,

He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”:

“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

First, we see here that Christ has the power to shut, and no one can open; and to open, and no one can shut. (That’s the first point to remember.) So not every closed door in your life is due to Satan—some are from Christ Himself.

But as we continue into verse 8, we find the answer to our question:

“How can we open closed doors before us?”

Jesus, who holds the key to all things, begins by saying:

“I know your works…”

This reveals that the opening or closing of doors is connected to a person’s actions.

Then He continues:

“I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it, for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

Did you see the three reasons why this person had an open door?

Because you have a little strength

Because you have kept My word

Because you have not denied My name

Jesus hasn’t changed. The same reasons He used back then are the same He uses today to open closed doors before us.

Let’s break them down:

1) Having Spiritual Strength

The Bible says:

1 John 2:14  “I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.”

Having the Word of God within you is what gives you spiritual strength.

Someone who lacks the Word of God in their heart is spiritually weak.

But remember: Having the Word in your heart is not about memorizing lots of Bible verses.

It’s about living out even one verse, and seeing its fruit in your life.

Example:

Jesus said,

“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you…”  Matthew 5:44

If you’ve memorized that verse but don’t practice it, then you haven’t really stored it in your heart. But if you are truly loving and praying for those who wrong you—you have hidden God’s Word in your heart.

2) Keeping God’s Word

This is slightly different from just living it once.

To keep God’s Word means to consistently obey it—not doing it today and ignoring it tomorrow. It’s a daily walk of obedience.

3) Not Denying His Name

This means not denying the faith.

To deny His name is to fall back in your faith, to abandon your trust in God.

Peter denied Jesus—that was a form of turning back.

Likewise, anyone who retreats from faith effectively closes the doors of blessings upon themselves.

So, beloved, we should not run after “anointing water” or “miracle oils” to receive divine favor or open doors.

The only way to access divine opportunities is to:

Correct your actions

Keep God’s Word in your life

And hold firmly to your faith in Christ

Then, all the things you’ve been praying for will begin to open naturally.

If you haven’t yet given your life to Christ, this is the moment. Turn to Him with a sincere heart, deciding to completely leave sin—not just because you want a breakthrough, but because you realize you are a sinner in need of salvation.

Jesus loves those who confess their sins and admit their need for forgiveness. He freely forgives anyone who comes to Him, no matter how far they’ve fallen.

Once you receive that forgiveness—you will feel a peace in your heart that is beyond human understanding.

Then, do not delay—complete your salvation by being baptized in much water:

John 3:23  “…because there was much water there…”

Acts 2:38  “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

From there, Jesus Himself will give you the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will help you understand the full truth of Scripture, and empower you to overcome sin that previously defeated you.

That is what it means to be born again. You’ll gain the hope of eternal life. And because you have first sought the Kingdom of God and His righteousness—

Matthew 6:33  “…all these things shall be added to you.”

All those doors that were once shut—will open.

Not by stickers, oil, or salt—but by the power of obedience, faith, and God’s Spirit.

God bless you.
