THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS

Let us briefly remind ourselves about the coming of the Lord Jesus, and how it will happen.

Jesus first came about 2,000 years ago… He was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified by the Jews, was buried, resurrected after three days, and ascended to heaven to be with the Father. As we speak now, He is in the heavens, seated at the right hand of the Father, having received all authority and power in heaven and on earth (1 Timothy 6:16). But He has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:3).

Soon, He will return to take us to be with Him, so that where He is, we may also be (John 14:3).

Now, when the day of His return arrives, it will be the Day of the Rapture. He will not come down to the earth but will remain in the heavens, and He will call us to rise and meet Him there. On that day, we will hear the trumpet sound, and at that very moment, God’s power will descend upon us, and in the twinkling of an eye, our weak bodies will be transformed and made like His glorious body. We will then rise up and leave the earth for the first time, soaring upwards to be with Him.

Those who have rejected Christ on earth will not see Him when He calls. Only those who are raptured will see Him. Just as when Jesus rose from the dead, only His disciples and a few followers saw Him; others, like the Pharisees, Sadducees, and even Pilate who had crucified Him, did not see Him. Likewise, on that day, only Christians who have held firm to their faith will see the Lord in the skies and will hear the trumpet call (Matthew 24:30).

Those who died in Christ before us will not be forgotten. They will be the first to witness the events, as they will be resurrected first. Then, we who are alive will join them, and together, we will be clothed with glorified bodies (1 Thessalonians 4:15).

However, not everyone will see these resurrected saints. The world’s people will only feel a shaking, like an earthquake, but they will not see anyone resurrected. Only those who are raptured will see them as they rise to meet the Lord in the air.

In heaven, a grand feast will take place for seven years, a time of unparalleled joy. Meanwhile, on earth, the world will go through a time of great tribulation. The Antichrist will reveal himself to those left behind, and only a few will realize that Christ has returned and they were left behind. Many will dismiss it as a lie and will be deceived by the Antichrist, taking his mark and eventually dying in the Day of the Lord’s wrath, when God will judge the earth’s evil through the seven bowl judgments (Revelation 16).

After these events, Christ, along with His saints who have been in heaven during the feast, will return to earth to defeat the forces of evil in the Battle of Armageddon and to establish His 1,000-year reign (Revelation 19). When He returns, only a small remnant of people who have survived the tribulation will witness His glorious return. The glory of His coming will be so great that it will fulfill the prophecy: “Every eye will see Him” (Revelation 1:7). They will mourn and cry out in fear when they see Christ coming not as the gentle Lamb they once knew, but as the mighty King in His glory, coming to judge the earth.

Matthew 24:30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.”

After this, the Millennial Kingdom will begin. After 1,000 years, there will be a new heaven and new earth, where there will be no more death, aging, suffering, or trials (Revelation 21:4). The first things will have passed away, and God will make everything new. The saints will live with the Lord forever in His eternal glory. Time will cease to be counted, for life will be eternal.

Revelation 21:4

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

We should pray that we are among those invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9).

The dead in sin will not be resurrected on the day of the rapture. They will remain in hell, suffering. One day, they will be resurrected to face judgment, and each will be judged according to their deeds (Revelation 20:13). After judgment, they will be cast into the lake of fire, a place of eternal torment even worse than hell.

Those left behind after the rapture who have taken the mark of the beast will not escape God’s judgment. After a short time, they will face God’s wrath through the seven bowls of judgment. While those who have died in sin are suffering in hell, those left on earth will face torment from God’s wrath. All the water on earth will be turned to blood, and people will suffer from thirst to the point of drinking blood (a consequence of spilling the blood of God’s saints). The sun will be made to burn like fire, and the rain will stop. Terrible signs and wonders will fall from the sky, and people will be unable to communicate with one another, leading to great strife and wars.

Revelation 16:1-3

“Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, ‘Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.’ The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.”

After these judgments, Christ will return and defeat the enemies of God, and all those who took the mark of the beast will face their final destination, the lake of fire.

Therefore, the rapture is not something to miss. It is far better to lose everything else than to miss the rapture. Let the Lord find us watching and praying, as He instructed in Mark 13:32-37:

Mark 13:32-37

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore, keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: Watch!”

Drunkenness, sexual immorality, theft, gossip, pride, anger, insults, corruption, fraud, lying, murder, and evil thoughts are all forms of sleeping spiritually.

May the Lord bless us.
