PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT

Do you know that when you obey the will of God, it is for your own benefit, not God’s benefit?

Do you know that God never suffers loss even if a person chooses to walk in his own ways? And do you know that your righteousness does not profit Him in any way?

When we do good or evil, the profit or loss comes back to us alone. This is exactly what the Scriptures teach.

“Can a man be of any benefit to God?
Can even a wise person benefit Him?
What pleasure would the Almighty have if you were righteous?
Or what gain would He receive if your ways were blameless?”
— Job 22:2–3

Did you see that?
When we obey God’s commands, it is for the good of our own souls and our own lives. That is why God continually calls us to walk in the way of life—so that we may obtain eternal life.

But when we reject Him, nothing is taken away from God, because everything belongs to Him.
The loss is ours, and the destruction comes upon us, not Him.

“If you sin, how does that affect Him?
If your sins are many, what does that do to Him?
If you are righteous, what do you give to Him?
Or what does He receive from your hand?
Your wickedness only harms a person like yourself;
your righteousness only benefits a human being.”
— Job 35:6–8

When you commit adultery, you are not destroying God, you are destroying yourself.

“Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks sense;
he who does so destroys his own soul.”
— Proverbs 6:32

When you steal, you endanger your own life.
When you murder, you bring destruction upon your own soul.
In every form of evil, the harm belongs to us, not to God.

But the Lord desires that we receive eternal life.
That is why He sent His only Son into the world—so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

If we willingly choose the path of death, God still suffers no loss;
but we lose our very souls.

Turn away from sin—
Receive Jesus—
Return to your Creator—
And you will receive great profit, both in this life and in the life to come.
