Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us learn together the Good News that gives life to our souls.
The Word of God says:
2 Kings 19:30
“Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.” (NIV)
Do you understand the meaning of this verse? It is speaking about the flourishing of the house of Judah — which, symbolically, represents us, the Church.
But this flourishing does not just happen automatically. The fruit above comes from a root below. The principle here is clear: for the fruit to appear above, the roots must grow deep below.
It is impossible for a tree to bear fruit without roots. So ask yourself: Do I have strong spiritual roots that will enable me to bear fruit that pleases the Lord?
Your value for salvation reveals the depth of your roots. Strong roots sustain fruitfulness.
A leaf doesn’t need deep roots because it produces no fruit.
If you cannot go deep in salvation — if you are casual with your spiritual life — you will have no fruit for your God.
The Example of the Sower
In the parable of the sower, Jesus explained why the fourth type of seed produced fruit:
Luke 8:15
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” (NIV)
They bore fruit by perseverance.
Perseverance in what?
They endured all the earlier challenges:
-
They did not allow the enemy to snatch the seed (Word) planted in their hearts.
-
They endured troubles and persecution because of the Word.
-
They resisted the pleasures and distractions of this world that could choke their growth.
This person is serious about the salvation they have received.
Do We Have Such Fruit?
Remember, fruit doesn’t come from wishing or waiting; it comes from deep roots that reach the hidden underground streams of God’s nourishment.
That is why the Bible says:
Psalm 1:1–3
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” (NIV)
Start working on your roots until they truly reach those streams of living water.
Do not grow cold in prayer, fasting, worship, evangelism, or in reading the Word.
2 Kings 19:30 reminds us:
“Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.”
May the Lord bless you.
