John 15:7 – “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
Do you truly understand what it means to abide in Jesus? There is a difference between Jesus living in you and you living in Him.
Abiding in Christ is more than simply giving your life to Him — it is a deeper, ongoing, intimate union with Him.
Think of human relationships: Have you ever heard someone say, “I have completely removed that person from my heart”? Usually, it’s because of deep hurt, betrayal, or offense.
On the other hand, when someone says, “That person is in my heart”, it means they have deeply touched them — through kindness, sacrifice, or love.
In the same way, there are those who are truly in Jesus’ heart, and there are others who are not — even though they may confess His name.
Why is that?
Because they have never done anything that touches the heart of the Lord to the point where He draws them into His heart. Biblically, such people are not “in Christ,” and on the Day of Judgment, He will deny knowing them.
Matthew 7:21–23 – “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
Ways to Touch the Heart of Jesus and Truly Abide in Him
1. Partaking in the Lord’s Table (Holy Communion)
This is one of the most profound ways to enter into the heart of Christ.
John 6:56–57 – “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.”
Do not despise the Lord’s Supper. Receive it reverently and in obedience to His Word. When you do, you touch His heart in a deep way.
2. Unity in the Body of Christ
Jesus longs for His followers to walk in true unity, not isolation.
John 17:21–23 – “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”
Avoid the habit of separating yourself from the fellowship of believers — it is spiritually dangerous.
3. Cheerful Giving
Generosity from the heart touches Jesus deeply.
Matthew 26:12–13 – “For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
This woman’s act of love has kept her in Christ’s heart for generations. The enemy attacks the teaching of giving because he knows it draws people closer to Christ.
4. Humility and Repentance
True humility is acknowledging your sin, repenting, and turning away from it.
Luke 23:40–43 – “But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.’
Then he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’
And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.’”
Humility draws you into the very heart of Jesus.
Benefits of Being in Christ
-
Answered Prayer – “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).
-
A New Creation – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The opposite is also true — not being in Christ brings the opposite of these blessings.
Prayer: May the Lord help us not only to invite Him into our lives, but also to abide deeply in Him and remain in His heart forever.
Maranatha — the Lord is coming!
