The <\/span>epistle <\/span>begins <\/span>with <\/span>the <\/span>greeting: <\/span>“<\/span>Paul, <\/span>an <\/span>apostle <\/span>of <\/span>Christ <\/span>Jesus <\/span>by <\/span>the <\/span>will <\/span>of <\/span>God, <\/span>and <\/span>Timothy <\/span>our <\/span>brother, <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>saints <\/span>and <\/span>faithful <\/span>brothers <\/span>in <\/span>Christ <\/span>at <\/span>Colossae…”<\/span><\/em> (<\/span>Colossians <\/span>1:<\/span>1\u2013<\/span>2). <\/span>This <\/span>clearly <\/span>identifies <\/span>Paul<\/span><\/strong> as <\/span>the <\/span>author <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>letter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>Letter<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>main <\/span>purpose <\/span>of <\/span>Paul’s <\/span>letter <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>Colossians <\/span>is <\/span>to <\/span>emphasize <\/span>the <\/span>absolute <\/span>sufficiency <\/span>and <\/span>supremacy <\/span>of <\/span>Jesus <\/span>Christ<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span>Paul <\/span>presents <\/span>Christ <\/span>as <\/span>the <\/span>One <\/span>in <\/span>whom <\/span>all <\/span>things <\/span>were <\/span>created<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>through <\/span>whom <\/span>the <\/span>fullness <\/span>of <\/span>deity <\/span>dwells <\/span>bodily<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span>In <\/span>Him <\/span>are <\/span>hidden <\/span>all <\/span>treasures <\/span>of <\/span>wisdom <\/span>and <\/span>knowledge<\/span><\/strong> (<\/span>Colossians <\/span>2:<\/span>3).<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul’s <\/span>message <\/span>is <\/span>clear: <\/span>once <\/span>someone <\/span>has <\/span>Christ, <\/span>they <\/span>lack <\/span>nothing<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span>There <\/span>is <\/span>no <\/span>need <\/span>to <\/span>seek <\/span>spiritual <\/span>fulfillment <\/span>through <\/span>other <\/span>religious <\/span>practices, <\/span>philosophies, <\/span>or <\/span>human <\/span>traditions.<\/span><\/p>\n
