At some point, many people experience a deeply emotional dream where a loved one such as a parent, sibling, or close friend dies. These dreams can feel alarmingly real, sometimes leaving you in tears or panic when you wake up. It’s only after a few moments that you realize, thankfully, it was just a dream. You may find yourself whispering, \u201cThank You, Lord, that it wasn\u2019t real.\u201d<\/p>\n

But are such dreams meaningless? Not necessarily. In fact, from a theological standpoint, such dreams can serve as spiritual wake-up calls <\/em>a way God reminds us of life\u2019s fragility and the reality of death.<\/p>\n

1. Dreams and God\u2019s Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Scripture, God often used dreams to communicate with people. Consider Joseph, son of Jacob, who received divine revelations through dreams (Genesis 37). In the New Testament, God warned Joseph (the husband of Mary) in a dream to flee to Egypt with baby Jesus (Matthew 2:13). While not every dream is from God, some are certainly a tool He uses to draw our attention to serious matters.<\/p>\n

2. Death: A Reality We Must Face<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether a dream points to a literal future event or not, it often reminds us that death is certain.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cJust as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.\u201d<\/em>
\u00a0Hebrews 9:27 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s not always about how someone will die, but that death will one day come. These dreams can urge us to consider the spiritual state of those we love and even ourselves.<\/p>\n

3. What Should You Do About It?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve had such a dream, don\u2019t be alarmed be awakened<\/strong>. Here are two biblical responses:<\/p>\n

\n

A. Share the Gospel With Your Loved Ones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not enough to hope our loved ones \u201clive good lives.\u201d The Bible teaches that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone.<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus answered, \u2018I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.\u2019\u201d<\/em>
\u00a0John 14:6 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cIf you declare with your mouth, \u2018Jesus is Lord,\u2019 and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.\u201d<\/em>
\u00a0Romans 10:9 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Whether your loved ones are religious or not, it is your responsibility as a believer to share the message of the cross that Christ died and rose again to offer forgiveness and eternal life.<\/p>\n

\n

B. Pray for Their Souls and Protection<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Intercessory prayer is powerful. In fact, the prophet Samuel considered it a sin<\/em> to stop praying for Israel even when they had sinned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.\u201d<\/em>
\u00a01 Samuel 12:23 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Similarly, Moses often interceded for Israel during their rebellion (Exodus 32:9\u201314). God listens to those who stand in the gap. When you walk with Christ, your prayers are heard.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.\u201d<\/em>
\u00a0James 5:16b (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

4. What If You\u2019re Not Yet in Christ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, it\u2019s difficult to effectively stand in the gap for others. The first step is to be reconciled to God yourself.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cRepent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.\u201d<\/em>

\n

\u201cYet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.\u201d<\/em>
\u00a0John 1:12 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jesus is not the Savior of Christians only He is the Savior of all who believe. No matter your background Muslim, atheist, or anything else Jesus welcomes you.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cFor God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.\u201d<\/em>

\n

A Simple Prayer of Salvation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you are ready to give your life to Christ, pray this from your heart:<\/p>\n

\u201cHeavenly Father, I come before You knowing I am a sinner in need of Your mercy. I have done wrong and deserve judgment. But I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again. Today I repent of all my sins. I ask You to forgive me, cleanse me with the blood of Jesus, and make me a new person. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
