Understanding the Power of God and the Scriptures<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cJesus replied, \u2018Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?\u2019\u201d<\/strong>
\n\u2014 Mark 12:24<\/em><\/p>\n

Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for taking the time to reflect on the Word of God today.<\/p>\n

\n

1. The Encounter with the Sadducees\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In Mark 12:18\u201327<\/strong>, the Sadducees\u2014who denied the resurrection\u2014present Jesus with a hypothetical story about a woman who had been married to seven brothers (following the Levirate law in Deuteronomy 25:5\u201310<\/strong>). Their intent was to mock the concept of resurrection.<\/p>\n

Their question: \u201cAt the resurrection, whose wife will she be?\u201d<\/em> was not genuine; it was rooted in their disbelief. They assumed that eternal life must mirror earthly life, especially in terms of marriage and relationships.<\/p>\n

But Jesus responded with divine clarity:<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?\u201d<\/strong>
\n\u2014 Mark 12:24<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He revealed the core issue: their ignorance of Scripture and underestimation of God\u2019s power. These two errors still mislead many today.<\/p>\n

\n

2. Not Knowing the Power of God \u2013 Limiting God to Human Logic<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Sadducees believed that life beyond death would operate under earthly constraints. But Jesus corrected them by explaining that in the resurrection, people will be like angels\u2014not marrying or being given in marriage<\/em> (Mark 12:25).<\/p>\n

This highlights an essential theological truth:
\nGlorification<\/strong> \u2013 At the resurrection, believers will be transformed.<\/p>\n

Philippians 3:21:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201c…who, by the power that 8<\/em>\u00a0understand the Scriptures they claimed to uphold.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He quoted Exodus 3:6<\/strong>, reminding them of God\u2019s words to Moses:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.\u201d<\/strong>
\n\u2014 Mark 12:26<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus pointed out that God spoke in the present tense\u2014\u201cI am,\u201d not \u201cI was.\u201d This implies that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were still alive in God\u2019s presence. In other words, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living<\/strong> (Mark 12:27<\/em>).<\/p>\n

This highlights a vital biblical doctrine:
\nThe Intermediate State<\/strong> \u2013 The souls of the righteous live on with God even before the final resurrection (cf. Luke 16:22<\/em>, Philippians 1:23<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Even today, many churches and religious groups mislead people because they don\u2019t accurately teach or study Scripture:<\/p>\n
