In this parable, Jesus confronts the Jewish religious leaders\u2014chief priests and Pharisees\u2014who were actively rejecting His messianic authority. The \u201cstone\u201d Jesus speaks of is not a mere metaphor, but a deeply rooted biblical symbol with prophetic and salvific implications.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1146\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1183\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong data-start=\"1151\" data-end=\"1183\">2. Meaning of \u201cFalling on the Stone\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1859\" data-end=\"1908\"><em data-start=\"1859\" data-end=\"1908\">\u201cWhoever falls on this stone will be broken&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1910\" data-end=\"2178\">This implies a <strong data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"1976\">personal confrontation with the truth of Christ<\/strong>. Those who encounter Him but resist His authority often experience internal brokenness. This may include conviction, guilt, crisis, or judgment. It is similar to being shattered spiritually or morally.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2475\">But this brokenness can be <strong data-start=\"2207\" data-end=\"2221\">redemptive<\/strong>\u2014like the breaking of pride and self-sufficiency that leads to repentance. Many people come to Christ by first being broken. Think of Paul\u2019s encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus (Acts 9). He was broken in spirit before he was built up in Christ.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2477\" data-end=\"2480\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"2482\" data-end=\"2554\"><span style=\"font-size: 36pt;\"><strong data-start=\"2485\" data-end=\"2554\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">4. Meaning of \u201cOn Whomever<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">It Falls, It Will Grind Him to Powder\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2556\" data-end=\"2818\">This part of the verse reveals a more <strong data-start=\"2594\" data-end=\"2614\">final and severe<\/strong> judgment. To be crushed by the stone is to face irreversible destruction. This is not just brokenness\u2014it is obliteration. It symbolizes divine wrath and final judgment for persistent rejection of Christ.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2820\" data-end=\"2850\">This reflects the prophecy in:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2852\" data-end=\"3073\">\n<li data-start=\"2852\" data-end=\"3073\">\n<p data-start=\"2854\" data-end=\"3073\"><strong data-start=\"2854\" data-end=\"2879\">Daniel 2:34\u201335 (NKJV)<\/strong><br data-start=\"2879\" data-end=\"2882\" \/><em data-start=\"2884\" data-end=\"3073\">\u201cYou watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet&#8230; and broke them in pieces\u2026 and the stone&#8230; became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3075\" data-end=\"3253\">That stone in Daniel represents the coming Kingdom of God, established by Christ, which will ultimately destroy all rebellious world systems. Christ is both <strong data-start=\"3232\" data-end=\"3252\">Savior and Judge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3255\" data-end=\"3258\" \/>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 36pt;\"><strong data-start=\"3263\" data-end=\"3325\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">5. Historical Fulfillment: The Fall of Jerusalem (70 A.D.)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3327\" data-end=\"3608\">The warning in Matthew 21:44 was not just symbolic. The religious leaders who rejected Jesus eventually faced destruction when the Romans invaded Jerusalem in 70 A.D., destroying the temple and decimating the Jewish leadership. This was a partial fulfillment of Jesus&#8217; prophecy in:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3610\" data-end=\"3838\">\n<li data-start=\"3610\" data-end=\"3838\">\n<p data-start=\"3612\" data-end=\"3838\"><strong data-start=\"3612\" data-end=\"3636\">Luke 19:43\u201344 (NKJV)<\/strong><br data-start=\"3636\" data-end=\"3639\" \/><em data-start=\"3641\" data-end=\"3838\">\u201cFor days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you&#8230; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3840\" data-end=\"3890\">The rejection of the &#8220;Stone&#8221; led to national ruin.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3892\" data-end=\"3895\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"3897\" data-end=\"3958\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong data-start=\"3900\" data-end=\"3958\">6. Practical Application: Are You Building or Falling?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3960\" data-end=\"4005\">We all respond to Jesus in one of three ways:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4007\" data-end=\"4300\">\n<li data-start=\"4007\" data-end=\"4101\">\n<p data-start=\"4009\" data-end=\"4101\"><strong data-start=\"4009\" data-end=\"4037\">Build your life upon Him<\/strong> (Matthew 7:24\u201325): You find safety, strength, and eternal life.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4102\" data-end=\"4208\">\n<p data-start=\"4104\" data-end=\"4208\"><strong data-start=\"4104\" data-end=\"4124\">Stumble over Him<\/strong>: You resist His Word, leading to brokenness that may or may not lead to repentance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4209\" data-end=\"4300\">\n<p data-start=\"4211\" data-end=\"4300\"><strong data-start=\"4211\" data-end=\"4232\">Be crushed by Him<\/strong>: Persistent rebellion ends in judgment\u2014eternal separation from God.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"4302\" data-end=\"4419\"><strong data-start=\"4302\" data-end=\"4330\">2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV)<\/strong> reminds us:<br data-start=\"4342\" data-end=\"4345\" \/><em data-start=\"4345\" data-end=\"4419\">\u201cBehold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"4421\" data-end=\"4424\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"4426\" data-end=\"4466\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong data-start=\"4429\" data-end=\"4466\">7.
