Stir Up Your Spiritual Gift<\/strong><\/h1>\n

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”<\/em>
\u2014 2 Timothy 1:6 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Introduction<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!<\/p>\n

In his second letter to Timothy, Paul encourages the young minister to actively \u201cfan into flame\u201d<\/strong> the gift that God had placed in him. This vivid image speaks of rekindling a fire, not letting it die out. It\u2019s a reminder to every believer<\/strong>: spiritual gifts are not self-sustaining\u2014they must be stirred, nurtured, and put to use<\/strong> through faith and action.<\/p>\n

\n

1. Spiritual Gifts Are Given, Not Earned<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Bible teaches that every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit<\/strong> at salvation:<\/p>\n

Romans 8:9 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cAnyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This means that if you belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit lives in you\u2014and He brings spiritual gifts<\/strong> with Him.<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 12:11 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cAll these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Spiritual gifts are sovereignly distributed<\/strong> by the Holy Spirit. You didn\u2019t choose your gift; God did. And He gave it for a purpose\u2014to serve others and build up the body of Christ.<\/p>\n

2. Gifts Must Be Stirred, Not Shelved<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While the gifts are divine in origin, they are not automatic in function<\/strong>. They must be stirred, activated, and strengthened:<\/p>\n

2 Timothy 1:6 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cFan into flame the gift of God, which is in you\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Just as fire requires oxygen and fuel, spiritual gifts need faith, obedience, and discipline<\/strong>. If left unused, they fade\u2014not because God removes them, but because we neglect them.<\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cRemember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This verse urges us to serve God early and earnestly<\/strong>. Don’t wait until your strength is gone\u2014start now while you have time and energy.<\/p>\n

3. Gifts Grow Through Discipline<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Paul often likens spiritual life to athletic training:<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 9:24\u201327 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cEvery athlete exercises self-control in all things\u2026 I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
