Let\u2019s begin by reflecting on Jesus\u2019 final command before His ascension:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Matthew 28:18\u201320<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThen Jesus came to them and said, \u2018All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.<br \/>\nTherefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,<br \/>\nand teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>1. <strong>The Authority of Christ<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jesus opens with a bold declaration: <em>\u201cAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.\u201d<\/em> (v. 18)<br \/>\nThis statement is not just a claim of power\u2014it\u2019s a declaration of sovereignty. After His resurrection, Christ is exalted to the right hand of the Father (Philippians 2:9\u201311), ruling as Lord over all creation. His authority is both universal and eternal. Therefore, when we go to preach, we are not going in our own strength\u2014we are going under His divine commission and covering.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Colossians 1:16\u201317<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cFor in him all things were created&#8230; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>2. <strong>Our Mission: To Make Disciples of All Nations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jesus didn\u2019t just tell His disciples to \u201cgo\u201d\u2014He told them <em>what to do<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make disciples<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Baptize them<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Teach them to obey everything He commanded<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not a suggestion; it is a command\u2014commonly known as the <strong>Great Commission<\/strong>. It reflects God&#8217;s heart for the whole world (John 3:16), and it mirrors His plan to redeem people from every tribe, tongue, and nation (Revelation 7:9).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Romans 10:14\u201315<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cHow, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? \u2026 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>3. <strong>God\u2019s Presence Gives Us Boldness<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jesus concluded His commission with a promise: <em>\u201cAnd surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.\u201d<\/em> (v. 20)<br \/>\nThis echoes God&#8217;s covenantal presence with His people throughout Scripture (see Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10). His abiding presence through the Holy Spirit (John 14:16\u201317) assures us that we are never alone in the mission.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>2 Timothy 1:7<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cFor the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>4. <strong>Start Where You Are<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You don\u2019t need special qualifications to preach. Jesus didn\u2019t tell His disciples to wait until they had all the resources or knowledge\u2014they were simply told to obey. Evangelism starts in your home, your street, your workplace, or your school. This is modeled in Acts 1:8:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Acts 1:8<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cBut you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Start in your \u201cJerusalem\u201d\u2014your immediate circle. Be faithful where you are, and God will expand your reach.<\/p>\n<h3>5. <strong>Don\u2019t Wait for \u201cSpecial\u201d Signs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Some believers hold back, waiting for a vision, a prophetic word, or a feeling of readiness. But Scripture is clear: the command has already been given. Spiritual growth happens <em>through<\/em> obedience, not before it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>James 1:22<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cDo not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You may never feel completely \u201cready\u201d\u2014and that\u2019s okay. God equips those He calls, and He is faithful to strengthen you along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Preaching the gospel boldly is not reserved for pastors or evangelists. It\u2019s the responsibility of every believer, backed by the authority of Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the urgency of the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t go alone. You go with the One who has all authority and who promised to be with you until the end.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So go. Preach boldly.
