Many people associate doing God\u2019s will with ministry success\u2014casting out demons, prophesying, or working miracles. But Jesus challenges that assumption in one of His most sobering teachings:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNot everyone who says to Me, \u2018Lord, Lord,\u2019 shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
\nMany will say to Me in that day, \u2018Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?\u2019
\nAnd then I will declare to them, \u2018I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!\u2019\u201d<\/strong>
\n(Matthew 7:21\u201323<\/strong>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This passage tells us that spiritual activity\u2014even miraculous\u2014does not guarantee salvation. The decisive factor is doing the will of God.<\/em> So the real question becomes: What is God\u2019s will?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The apostle Paul answers this clearly:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
\nthat each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
\nnot in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God.\u201d<\/strong>
\n(1 Thessalonians 4:3\u20135<\/strong>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God’s Will Is Holiness, Not Just Power<\/h3>\n

In biblical , the will of God \u00a0is not only about His sovereign plans (e.g., Ephesians 1:11), but also about His moral expectations<\/strong> for His people. In 1 Thessalonians 4, Paul emphasizes that God’s will centers on personal sanctification<\/strong>\u2014the process of being set apart for God and growing in holiness.<\/p>\n

This teaching aligns with God\u2019s character as holy (1 Peter 1:15\u201316), and it shows that He calls us not just to believe, but to live differently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You could prophesy, heal, or teach the Word, yet still live in unrepentant sin. That kind of double life is what Jesus calls \u201clawlessness\u201d\u2014a willful rejection of God’s moral law.<\/p>\n

So holiness is not optional\u2014it\u2019s essential.<\/p>\n

\u201cPursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.\u201d<\/strong>
\n(Hebrews 12:14<\/strong>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This isn\u2019t about legalism or trying to earn salvation through works, but rather about genuine faith that produces fruit<\/strong> (James 2:17). True salvation always leads to transformation.<\/p>\n

Holiness Affects How We Live\u2014and Even How We Dress<\/h3>\n

Sanctification affects every area of life: relationships, entertainment choices, speech, and yes\u2014even how we dress.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor\u201d<\/strong>
\n(1 Thessalonians 4:4<\/strong>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cPossessing your vessel\u201d includes respecting your body and not using it to provoke or tempt others. Modesty isn’t cultural\u2014it’s theological. It reflects humility, honor, and a desire to glorify God (1 Corinthians 6:19\u201320).<\/p>\n

Wearing clothing that reveals too much or imitates worldly sensuality often shows a heart not submitted to Christ’s lordship. If what we wear wouldn\u2019t be considered appropriate to wear before God\u2014or even our parents\u2014can we call it honorable?<\/p>\n

These choices matter because they flow from the heart, and Jesus taught that what\u2019s in the heart defines our true spiritual state (Matthew 15:18\u201320).<\/p>\n

Holiness Is the Ticket\u2014Not Gifts or Experiences<\/h3>\n

Gifts like prophecy, speaking in tongues, and dreams are real, and God uses them. But they are not proof of salvation<\/strong>. Judas performed miracles (Matthew 10:1\u20138), yet betrayed Christ. King Saul prophesied (1 Samuel 10:10), yet disobeyed God.<\/p>\n

Spiritual gifts can be imitated or even misused (Matthew 24:24), but holy living cannot be faked before God.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the apostle Paul told Timothy:<\/p>\n

\u201cLet everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.\u201d<\/strong>
\n(2 Timothy 2:19<\/strong>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you\u2019ve been relying on ministry, spiritual experiences, or a sense of calling as your ticket to heaven\u2014but you\u2019re ignoring God\u2019s call to holiness\u2014you are in danger of hearing, \u201cI never knew you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s not be among those who fulfill that tragic prophecy. Instead, let\u2019s repent and live lives of holiness, depending on the power of the Holy Spirit to sanctify us daily (Romans 8:13).<\/p>\n

\u201cBlessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.\u201d<\/strong>
