Matthew 10:33<\/strong>\u2013 <\/span>\u201cBut whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today\u2019s message is both sobering and vital\u2014it reminds us that confessing Christ is not just about words, but about a life of loyalty and obedience. Jesus gives a warning: if we deny Him before people, He will deny us before God the Father. This is not symbolic language\u2014it is a declaration about eternal consequences.<\/p>\n

\n

1. What Does It Mean to Deny Christ?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Greek word for \u201cdeny\u201d (arneomai<\/em>) means to refuse to acknowledge, to reject, or disown. It\u2019s more than just words\u2014it\u2019s a heart posture and lifestyle that distances itself from Christ, especially when doing so seems more convenient or socially acceptable.<\/p>\n

To \u201cdeny\u201d someone is to reject a relationship that once existed or was claimed. Think of it like being disowned by a friend you thought would always stand by you\u2014someone you trusted, walked with, believed in, and leaned on. It\u2019s painful.<\/p>\n

This was the tragedy of Peter\u2019s denial<\/strong> (Luke 22:54\u201362), though he repented. But Jesus warns of a final, eternal denial in Matthew 10:33\u2014where there is no coming back.<\/p>\n

\n

2. Denial vs. Betrayal \u2013 A Theological Distinction<\/strong><\/h3>\n

While betrayal involves working against someone (as Judas did, Matthew 26:14\u201316), denial is distancing oneself from someone\u2014often under pressure or fear.<\/p>\n

Both are sins<\/strong>, but denial often comes from weakness, while betrayal is intentional treachery. Yet, without repentance, both can separate us from Christ.<\/p>\n

\n

3. The Shock of Being Denied by Jesus<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Imagine arriving at the gates of eternity, expecting a warm welcome from Jesus\u2014the one whose name you prayed in, who healed you, who performed miracles through you. But instead, He says:<\/p>\n

Matthew 7:22\u201323<\/strong>
\n\u201cMany will say to Me in that day, \u2018Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?\u2019
\nAnd then I will declare to them, \u2018I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The shock isn\u2019t that Jesus doesn\u2019t recognize their works\u2014it\u2019s that He doesn\u2019t know them<\/strong>. Why? Because they used His name but didn\u2019t obey His will.<\/p>\n

This challenges us theologically: miracles and ministry are not proof of salvation<\/strong>. What matters is obedience, faithfulness, and a true relationship with Christ (see John 14:15).<\/p>\n

\n

4. Living to Please the Lord<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Christian life isn\u2019t about a one-time confession. It\u2019s a daily journey of surrender, obedience, and transformation. That\u2019s why Paul, despite all his revelations, never became complacent.<\/p>\n

Ephesians 5:10 <\/strong>\u201cFind out what pleases the Lord.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

1 Corinthians 9:26\u201327<\/strong>
\n\u201cTherefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.\u201d<\/em>y to<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Philippians 3:12\u201314\u00a0<\/strong>
\n\u201cNot that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me\u2026 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Paul\u2019s theology was clear: Salvation is by grace (Ephesians 2:8\u20139), but it results in a transformed life of pressing forward\u2014never looking back.<\/p>\n

\n

5. Final Reflection: A Call to Faithful Confession<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s ask ourselves: Are we confessing Christ only when it\u2019s comfortable? Do our lives show loyalty to Him in public and private? Are we living in a way that says, \u201cJesus is my Lord\u201d\u2014not just with words, but with obedience?<\/p>\n

We must not merely claim<\/strong> the name of Jesus\u2014we must walk<\/strong> in His will. The day will come when Jesus will either confess us<\/strong> before the Father\u2014or deny us. And that verdict is final.<\/p>\n

Prayer<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lord Jesus, help us never to be ashamed of You. Strengthen us to stand firm in our faith\u2014even when it\u2019s difficult. May our lives reflect our love and loyalty to You, so that on that final day, You will say, \u201cWell done, good and faithful servant.\u201d<\/em> Amen.<\/p>\n
