Blessed be the name of the Source of Life \u2014 JESUS CHRIST, the Eternal Rock.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Bible, Jacob placed a stone under his head before sleeping. When he woke, he stood the stone upright and set it up as a pillar (Genesis 28:10-20, ESV).<\/p>\n

This stone symbolizes the revelation of JESUS CHRIST, the living Rock on which faith must be founded.<\/p>\n

Jesus as the Living Stone<\/h3>\n

Jacob\u2019s stone points to Jesus Christ, who is described as the \u201cliving Stone\u201d in 1 Peter 2:4:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCome to him, a living stone, though rejected by men but chosen and precious in God\u2019s sight.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus is not a mere historical figure or a religious symbol, but the very foundation of our faith and the source of spiritual revelation.<\/p>\n

Jacob\u2019s Experience \u2014 From Pillow to Pillar<\/h3>\n

Jacob was fleeing his brother Esau and stopped to rest at an ordinary place. He used a stone as a pillow, probably without realizing its significance. However, after receiving God\u2019s vision in a dream, he realized this place was holy Genesis 28:16-17<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cJacob awoke from his sleep and said, \u2018Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.\u2019 And he was afraid and said, \u2018How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He then set up the stone as a pillar, marking a spiritual turning point\u2014no longer just a resting place, but a symbol of God\u2019s presence and covenant.<\/p>\n

Application: Is Jesus Your Pillar or Pillow?<\/h3>\n

Like Jacob\u2019s stone, Jesus can either lie dormant beneath us as a pillow or be set up as a firm pillar in our lives. The danger is treating Jesus as a mere religious tradition, an inherited faith, or a source of dreams without grounding in God\u2019s Word.<\/p>\n

Mark 4:35-41 shows the disciples\u2019 storm at sea. Jesus, the Stone, was asleep in the boat, but when awakened, He rebuked the storm and brought peace:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said to the wind, \u2018Peace! Be still!\u2019 And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.\u201d (Mark 4:39)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This reveals Jesus\u2019 authority over chaos and trials. When He is our firm foundation, we will not be shaken, even in life\u2019s fiercest storms (Psalm 18:2 \u201cThe LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer\u201d).<\/p>\n

Warning Against False Foundations<\/h3>\n

Jesus warned against building on anything other than Himself as the solid rock (Matthew 7:24-27):<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock… But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If our faith is only based on emotions, visions, or tradition without obedience to God\u2019s Word, it is like the stone lying flat\u2014unstable and vulnerable to destruction.<\/p>\n

Set Up the Stone \u2014 Jesus Christ<\/h3>\n

Set up Jesus as the cornerstone of your life. Let Him be the pillar that holds you firm in faith, hope, and love.<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.\u201d<\/strong> (Hebrews 13:8)<\/p>\n

Stand firm on this living Stone, and your life will withstand every storm.<\/p>\n
