Introduction:<\/span> Why<\/span> Calling<\/span> on<\/span>\u00a0God\u2019s<\/span> Name<\/span> Matters<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Calling on the name of the Lord is more than just speaking\u2014it\u2019s an act of worship, dependence, and faith. Scripture consistently shows that invoking God\u2019s name brings salvation, protection, and peace.<\/p>\n

Romans 10:12\u201313\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFor there is no difference between Jew and Gentile\u2014the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, \u2018Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This promise is rooted in God’s covenantal nature\u2014He responds to those who approach Him with sincere hearts. However, calling on His name must be done with reverence.<\/p>\n

Exodus 20:7\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

1. In Times of Need \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Jireh<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord Will Provide\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Genesis 22:14<\/em><\/p>\n

The name Jehovah-Jireh<\/em> was first used by Abraham when God provided a ram in place of his son Isaac. This reveals God as Provider within covenant<\/strong>\u2014a foreshadow of Christ, God\u2019s ultimate provision.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, \u2018On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This name ties to God\u2019s attribute of divine providence<\/strong>\u2014He sees ahead and supplies what is needed. In Philippians 4:19, Paul echoes this covenant truth: \u201cMy God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

2. In Times of Sickness \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Rapha<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord Who Heals You\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Exodus 15:26<\/em><\/p>\n

God revealed Himself as Jehovah-Rapha<\/em> when He healed Israel after they crossed the Red Sea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the Lord, who heals you.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God\u2019s healing reflects His restorative character<\/strong>. Jesus continues this work in the New Covenant as our Great Physician (Luke 4:18, Isaiah 53:5). Healing may come physically, emotionally, or spiritually\u2014but always aligns with God’s redemptive plan.<\/p>\n

\n

3. In Spiritual Battles \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Nissi<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord is My Banner\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Exodus 17:15<\/em><\/p>\n

When Israel fought the Amalekites, victory came as Moses raised his hands in intercession. Afterwards, they named the altar Jehovah-Nissi<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God as Jehovah-Nissi<\/em> is our Warrior King<\/strong> (see Exodus 14:14). He leads His people to victory when they depend on His strength, not their own (cf. 2 Chronicles 20:15).<\/p>\n

\n

4. In Danger or Uncertainty \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Rohi<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord is My Shepherd\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Psalm 23:1<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David recognized God\u2019s pastoral care<\/strong>. As Jehovah-Rohi<\/em>, the Lord watches over, guides, and protects His people. Jesus echoes this image in John 10:11: \u201cI am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

5. When Facing the Impossible \u2013 Call Him El Shaddai<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cGod Almighty\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Genesis 17:1<\/em><\/p>\n

When Abraham doubted that he could have a son in his old age, God revealed Himself as El Shaddai<\/em>, the Almighty One.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

El Shaddai<\/em> emphasizes God’s omnipotence<\/strong>\u2014His ability to do what is humanly impossible. The New Testament confirms this in Luke 1:37\u201cFor no word from God will ever fail.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

6. When You Feel Alone \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Shammah<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord is There\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Ezekiel 48:35<\/em><\/p>\n

In Ezekiel\u2019s vision of the restored Jerusalem, the city was named Jehovah-Shammah<\/em>, symbolizing God’s constant presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the name of the city from that time on will be: The Lord is there.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God\u2019s presence is part of His covenantal promise<\/strong> (Matthew 28:20). In Christ, believers are never alone. The Holy Spirit is God\u2019s abiding presence within us (John 14:16\u201317).<\/p>\n

\n

7. When Peace is Lost \u2013 Call Him Jehovah-Shalom<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord is Peace\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Judges 6:24<\/em><\/p>\n

After Gideon\u2019s divine encounter, he built an altar and named it Jehovah-Shalom<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God is not only the giver of peace, but peace itself<\/strong> (cf. Isaiah 9:6; John 14:27). True shalom is more than the absence of conflict\u2014it\u2019s the presence of wholeness, harmony, and restoration.<\/p>\n

\n

8. When Reflecting on His Majesty \u2013 Call Him Adonai<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Sovereign Lord\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Frequently used in Psalms and Prophets<\/p>\n

Adonai<\/em> emphasizes God\u2019s lordship and authority over all creation.<\/p>\n

Psalm 8:1\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLord, our Lord (Adonai<\/em>), how majestic is your name in all the earth!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This title recognizes God as Master and King<\/strong>\u2014worthy of total submission. It\u2019s the proper response of worship to the Creator and Ruler of all (Romans 12:1).<\/p>\n

\n

9. When Seeking Salvation \u2013 Call on Yeshua (Jesus), Jehovah the Savior<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe Lord Saves\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Acts 4:12<\/em><\/p>\n

The name Jesus<\/em> (Hebrew: Yeshua) means \u201cThe Lord is Salvation.\u201d He is the ultimate revelation of all God\u2019s names and attributes in human form.<\/p>\n

Acts 4:12\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSalvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament names of God. He is Provider (John 6:35<\/em>), Healer (1 Peter 2:24<\/em>), Shepherd (John 10:11<\/em>), and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6<\/em>). In Him, we receive complete salvation<\/strong> (Hebrews 7:25).<\/p>\n

To be saved, one must repent and believe, and be baptized in His name as commanded:<\/p>\n

Mark 16:16\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Acts 2:38\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cRepent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

Calling on the Name with a Pure Heart<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is great power in calling on God’s name\u2014but it must be accompanied by repentance and obedience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2 Timothy 2:19\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lord knows those who are His, and, \u2018Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God invites us to know Him personally through His names. Each one reveals an aspect of His character and covenant. In every season of life, He is near, ready to respond when we call on Him in truth.<\/p>\n

Have you called on the name of Jesus for your salvation?<\/strong>
\nIf not, today is the day of salvation. The name of the Lord is still a strong tower\u2014run to it, and you will be saved.<\/p>\n
