Biblical Truths for New Believers<\/em><\/p>\n

Introduction: Understanding the Last Days<\/strong><\/p>\n

As followers of Jesus Christ, we must understand what the Bible teaches about the end times and the eternal hope promised to believers. Knowing this gives us confidence, peace, and a reason to live with purpose.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches that the \u201clast days\u201d began when the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost (Acts 2:16\u201317), and this period will continue until the visible return of Jesus Christ to judge the world and establish His Kingdom.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.\u201d
\n\u2014 Matthew 24:36<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Even though we don\u2019t know the exact time, Scripture gives us signs<\/strong> to watch for and hope<\/strong> to cling to.<\/p>\n

\n

1. Key Events in the End Times (Eschatology)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Eschatology<\/strong> is the theological term for the study of \u201clast things\u201d\u2014including Christ\u2019s return, resurrection, judgment, and eternity. The Bible outlines several key events that mark this final phase:<\/p>\n

a) The Gospel Preached to All Nations<\/h3>\n

\u201cAnd this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.\u201d
\n\u2014 Matthew 24:14<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God\u2019s plan is that all peoples hear the gospel before the end comes (see also Revelation 7:9).<\/p>\n

\n

b) The Great Tribulation<\/h3>\n

\u201cFor then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.\u201d

This period involves severe persecution, deception, and testing of faith.<\/p>\n

c) Increase of Wickedness and Apostasy<\/h3>\n

\u201cLet no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed…\u201d
\n\u2014 2 Thessalonians 2:3<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Moral decline and rebellion against truth will be widespread.<\/p>\n

d) The Appearance of the Antichrist<\/h3>\n

\u201cChildren, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come.\u201d

\nAlso: 2 Thessalonians 2:4<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Antichrist will exalt himself and deceive many before Christ returns.<\/p>\n

e) The Visible Return of Jesus<\/h3>\n

\u201cThen will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man… and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.\u201d
\n\u2014 Matthew 24:30<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus will return personally, visibly, and in glory to gather His people and judge the world.<\/p>\n

\n

f) The Resurrection and Final Judgment<\/h3>\n

\u201c…all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life…\u201d
\n\u2014 John 5:28\u201329<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is the hope of believers\u2014the resurrection to eternal life and reward (cf. Revelation 20:11\u201315).<\/p>\n

2. The Second Coming of Christ<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jesus\u2019 return is the central hope of Christian eschatology. His first coming was for salvation; His second coming will be for judgment and glory.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself…\u201d
\n\u2014 John 14:3<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThis Jesus… will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.\u201d
\n\u2014 Acts 1:11<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
