Many people have been taught that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the Queen of Heaven<\/em>. But when we examine the Bible closely, we discover that the phrase \u201cQueen of Heaven\u201d<\/em> does appear\u2014but not in a positive context, and certainly not in reference to Mary. Instead, it refers to a pagan goddess<\/strong> whom the people of Israel wrongly worshiped\u2014something God strictly forbade.<\/p>\n

1. The Bible Mentions \u201cQueen of Heaven\u201d Only in Condemnation of Idolatry<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jeremiah 7:18\u201320\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cThe children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger.
\nBut am I the one they are provoking?\u201d declares the Lord. \u201cAre they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?
\nTherefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In this passage, the entire family participates in idol worship to honor the Queen of Heaven<\/em>, a false deity. God expresses that this provokes His anger, and brings destruction. This Queen<\/em> was part of pagan worship<\/strong>, not Christian belief.<\/p>\n

Jeremiah 44:17\u201323<\/strong>\u00a0elaborates further:<\/h4>\n

\u201cWe will certainly do everything we said we would: we will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her\u2026\u201d<\/em>
\n\u201cEver since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven\u2026 we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWhen the Lord could no longer endure your wicked actions\u2026 your land became a curse\u2026 because you have burned incense and have sinned against the Lord.\u201d<\/em>

Here, the people stubbornly defend their idol worship<\/strong>, believing it brought them prosperity. But Jeremiah clarifies: their suffering was not<\/strong> from neglecting the queen\u2014they were judged because of their rebellion against God\u2019s commandments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2. Mary Was Honored, but She Was Not Exalted to Divinity<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mary was a godly woman, highly favored by God. She is to be respected<\/strong>, but the Bible never teaches that she should be worshipped<\/strong>, prayed to, or given the title Queen of Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Luke 1:28\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cRejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, Mary was blessed among women<\/strong>, but she herself recognized God as her Savior<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Luke 1:46\u201347\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cMy soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If Mary needed a Savior<\/strong>, then she, like us, was a human in need of salvation\u2014not a goddess or queen to be worshipped.<\/p>\n

3. Worship Belongs to God Alone\u2014Jesus Christ is the Only Mediator<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Bible consistently teaches that God alone is worthy of worship<\/strong>, and that Jesus Christ alone<\/strong> is our Mediator and King.<\/p>\n

1 Timothy 2:5\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cFor there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nowhere does Scripture say that Mary is a co-mediator or a spiritual intercessor. That belief has no biblical foundation<\/strong> and contradicts the core of the gospel.<\/p>\n

Matthew 4:10\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cWorship the Lord your God, and serve him only.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

4. Where Did the Idea of \u201cMary, Queen of Heaven\u201d Come From?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The concept of a heavenly queen<\/em> existed long before Christianity\u2014in ancient pagan religions<\/strong>. Goddesses like Ashtoreth<\/strong>, Semiramis<\/strong>, and Artemis<\/strong> were worshipped as mother deities<\/em> and were often given the title Queen of Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In 1 Kings 11:5<\/strong>\u00a0we read:
\n\u201cHe [Solomon] followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians…\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Later, during the rise of tradition-based Christianity<\/strong>, some of these pagan practices were adopted into religious rituals\u2014especially in the Roman Catholic Church<\/strong>\u2014where Mary began to be venerated like a goddess. Over time, she was wrongly honored as Queen of Heaven<\/em>\u2014a direct contradiction to the Bible\u2019s teaching.<\/p>\n

5. Who Is the True King of Heaven?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Bible clearly declares that Jesus Christ alone<\/strong> holds the heavenly title of King:<\/p>\n

Revelation 19:16\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cOn his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He alone sits on the throne of heaven, and no queen is ever mentioned<\/strong> beside Him.<\/p>\n
