It is not a myth or just a symbol, but a literal place of conscious torment.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible teaches that humans are created with an eternal soul (Genesis 2:7) that continues after physical death. Where the soul goes depends on whether a person has been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ\u2019s sacrifice (Hebrews 9:27).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Hell (Hades) as a Place of Temporary Punishment<\/h3>\n<p>In <strong>Luke 16:19\u201331 <\/strong>Jesus tells the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Instead, they enter <strong>Paradise<\/strong>, a place of rest and peace (Luke 23:43), awaiting the resurrection.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cToday you will be with Me in Paradise.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>(Luke 23:43)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At Jesus\u2019 second coming, the righteous dead will be resurrected, receive glorified bodies, and join the living believers to be with the Lord forever.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cFor the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout\u2026 and the dead in Christ will rise first.
