Blessed be the Name of our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST<\/strong>. Welcome to this Bible teaching. The Word of our God is the lamp and light<\/strong> to our path, as it is written:<\/p>\n

\n

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”<\/strong>
\u2014 Psalm 119:105 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Let\u2019s begin with this powerful truth:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cSince therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 1 Peter 4:1 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

From this, we learn a key principle: Suffering in the flesh is the pathway to freedom from sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, who is the ultimate example of one who suffered in the flesh and ceased from sin?<\/p>\n

None other than our Lord JESUS CHRIST<\/strong>. He suffered in His body and broke the power of sin \u2014 not because He had any sin of His own (He was sinless), but because our sins were laid upon Him<\/strong> by the Father. He was counted among the sinners though He was holy, and He suffered and died on account of the world\u2019s sins.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cFor the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Romans 6:10 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jesus died, was buried, and rose again without those sins<\/strong> \u2014 leaving them in the grave. That is the miraculous victory over sin.<\/p>\n

How Do We Follow That Pattern?<\/h3>\n

To be free from sin, we must follow the same path: suffering, death, and resurrection<\/strong> \u2014 spiritually speaking.<\/p>\n

But since no human being<\/strong> can walk that path exactly like Jesus did, God made it simpler for us<\/strong> through faith in Christ.<\/p>\n

When we believe in Jesus<\/strong>, deny ourselves, and turn away from the world, we are entering into His suffering.<\/p>\n

When we are immersed in water baptism<\/strong>, we identify with His death.<\/p>\n

And when we rise from the water<\/strong>, we identify with His resurrection.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cHaving been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Colossians 2:12 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

These three steps \u2014 self-denial<\/strong>, baptism<\/strong>, and rising to new life<\/strong> \u2014 spiritually mirror Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the verse:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 1 Peter 4:1 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

becomes a reality in us.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAnd those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Galatians 5:24 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Why Do Some Believers Still Struggle with Sin?<\/h3>\n

If you find that sins such as sexual immorality, drunkenness, hatred, jealousy, or witchcraft<\/strong> still rule over you, as listed in Galatians 5:19\u201321<\/strong>, it may be a sign that your flesh has not yet been crucified with Christ<\/strong>. And that\u2019s why sin still has power over you.<\/p>\n

The Solution?<\/h3>\n
