There was a profound revelation given to Moses that made him gentler than anyone else on earth at that time, as the Scriptures tell us:<\/p>\n
Numbers 12:3 (ESV)<\/strong> \u2014 “Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.”<\/p>\n This verse reveals a key spiritual principle: meekness (Greek prautes<\/em>) is not weakness, but strength under control. Moses\u2019 meekness came from his deep understanding of God\u2019s sovereign will. This revelation can be summarized as \u201cUNDERSTANDING MORE THAN OTHERS DO.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Before we focus on Moses, let\u2019s first consider our Lord Jesus Christ\u2014the “Stone rejected by men, but chosen by God” (1 Peter 2:7). Scripture tells us He was incredibly meek:<\/p>\n When Jesus was spat upon, insulted, and beaten, He did not retaliate, fulfilling Isaiah\u2019s prophecy of the suffering servant (Isaiah 53:7). As 1 Peter 2:23 (ESV) says:<\/p>\n “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.”<\/em><\/p>\n What enabled such meekness, so hard for us to emulate? The answer is found in Jesus\u2019 prayer on the cross:<\/p>\n Luke 23:34 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n “And Jesus said, \u2018Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.\u2019 And they cast lots to divide his garments.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The phrase \u201cfor they know not what they do\u201d reveals Jesus\u2019 divine understanding. He knew that those crucifying Him acted ignorantly, fulfilling prophecy, and under the blindness of sin (2 Corinthians 4:4). This is the essence of godly meekness understanding deeper realities beyond immediate circumstances.<\/p>\n Paul elaborates this truth in 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 (ESV):<\/strong><\/p>\n “But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age understood, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Similarly, Judas\u2019 betrayal, though painful, was part of God\u2019s sovereign plan to fulfill Scripture, not a mere act of a foolhardy man (John 13:18; Psalm 41:9). This understanding did not cause Jesus to hate Judas but rather to offer grace.<\/p>\n Returning to Moses, his meekness also stemmed from understanding more than others<\/strong>.<\/p>\n While the Israelites grumbled against Pharaoh, accusing him of cruelty, Moses understood that God had sovereignly hardened Pharaoh\u2019s heart to display His power and proclaim His name (Exodus 9:16; Romans 9:17).<\/p>\n Exodus 4:21 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0“And the LORD said to Moses, \u2018When you return to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.\u2019”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Moses\u2019 meekness was rooted in this divine insight: he knew the bigger picture, that God was in control, so he was not discouraged by Pharaoh\u2019s stubbornness.<\/p>\n This principle applies to us today: true peace comes from understanding God\u2019s sovereign purposes beyond our limited view. Not all adversity is from Satan; some trials are allowed by God for His purposes to refine us, test our faith, or bring glory to Him (James 1:2-4; Romans 8:28).<\/p>\n When rejected or opposed, remember that God may be using the situation to display His power and glory (2 Corinthians 12:9). Even Moses performed signs before Pharaoh that initially bore no fruit, yet God\u2019s plan prevailed.<\/p>\n Before reacting in panic to difficulties, seek God\u2019s wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Some struggles come from God\u2019s permissive will, not demonic attack, intended for a greater testimony and demonstration of His grace.<\/p>\n Consider if Pharaoh had relented earlier would God\u2019s glory have been fully revealed? If Job had not suffered, would we have such a powerful example of faith and restoration (Job 1-2; Job 42:10-17)?<\/p>\n Therefore, be patient and ask God for deeper understanding of your circumstances.<\/p>\n When you grasp more than others, you will embody greater meekness, courage, and strength regardless of trials.<\/p>\n May the Lord grant us such wisdom and understanding.<\/p>\n Maranatha!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
