\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mark 8:23\u201326 recounts the story of Jesus healing a blind man in Bethsaida. Unlike many other miracles where Jesus healed people instantly and publicly, here He took the man by the hand and led him outside the village first.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When He had spit on the man\u2019s eyes and put His hands on him, Jesus asked, \u2018Do you see anything?\u2019 He looked up and said, \u2018I see people; they look like trees walking around.\u2019 Once more Jesus put His hands on the man\u2019s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, \u2018Don\u2019t even go into the village.\u2019\u201d (Mark 8:22\u201326, NIV)<\/p>\n
Imagine yourself as this blind man: brought to a physician for healing, but instead of receiving immediate treatment, he takes you by the hand and leads you away\u2014outside the familiar place, away from the voices of people, perhaps walking for miles into empty fields. Confusion and fear might set in, but this man obeyed. In his blindness, he trusted Jesus completely.<\/p>\n
Once isolated from all distractions, Jesus touched him and began the healing process. Notice that the healing was gradual\u2014first partial vision, then complete clarity. Why? Because Jesus wanted to teach a deeper truth. From his words\u2014\u201cI see people; they look like trees walking\u201d\u2014we know this man had once seen; he was not born blind. He had lost his sight at some point, and the environment in which he had been\u2014Bethsaida\u2014was linked to his spiritual condition. Hence, Jesus commanded him: \u201cDo not even go back into the village.\u201d<\/p>\n
This mirrors what is happening spiritually today. The world blinds people\u2019s spiritual eyes through its distractions, pleasures, and cares. They no longer perceive that these are the last days, that the Rapture is near, and that this world is decaying rapidly. Even when they hear the truth of the Gospel, it seems ordinary to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.\u201d (2 Corinthians 4:3\u20134, NIV)<\/p>\n
For Jesus to open your eyes, you must be willing to let Him take you \u201coutside the village.\u201d This means separating yourself from the influences that caused spiritual blindness: worldly pleasures, ungodly fashion, immoral relationships, and the love of the world. Jesus said:<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.\u201d (Matthew 16:24\u201325, NIV)<\/p>\n
When you allow Him to lead you away, your spiritual vision will be restored, and you will clearly see the reality of the unseen world: the schemes of Satan, the nearness of the Rapture, and the eternal danger of hell. Then you will realize how blind you once were.<\/p>\n
Beloved, perhaps you have heard this message many times\u2014that we are living in the final days. Even if the Rapture does not occur in your lifetime, know that your earthly life is short. No one knows what tomorrow holds. Multitudes are dying daily, and if death finds you in spiritual blindness, there is no second chance.<\/p>\n
If you are a believer and you understand that this is the era of the seventh and final church\u2014the Church of Laodicea (Revelation 3:14\u201322)\u2014and yet you treat your spiritual life lightly, it is a sign that the world has blinded your eyes. This is the age where the wheat and the tares have already been separated (Matthew 13:30). The lukewarm will be \u201cvomited\u201d out by Christ (Revelation 3:16). Vomit is detestable even to look at; how much more to consume? Do not wait until you are spat out\u2014repent and seek the Lord now while there is still time (Isaiah 55:6\u20137).<\/p>\n
