Jesus made an important contrast between stones<\/strong> and bread <\/strong>a contrast that teaches us about the Father\u2019s goodness<\/strong> and the subtlety of Satan\u2019s deception<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cFor everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Jesus used this metaphor to teach about God’s faithfulness to His children<\/strong>. If earthly fathers know how to provide good things, how much more does our Heavenly Father<\/strong> know how to give exactly what is good for us<\/strong>?<\/p>\n This scripture affirms:<\/p>\n God gives what is life sustaining<\/strong>, not harmful.<\/p>\n Bread represents true provision<\/strong>; stones represent useless or dangerous substitutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n God\u2019s nature is generous, not deceptive.<\/p>\n Yet we find the enemy using this exact imagery<\/strong> to tempt Jesus during His 40-day fast.<\/p>\n \u201c…being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. This was not merely about hunger. It was a theological attack on God’s character<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Satan wanted Jesus to believe:<\/p>\n That God the Father had failed Him<\/strong>, leaving Him in starvation.<\/p>\n That Jesus should independently act<\/strong> apart from the Father\u2019s will to meet His needs.<\/p>\n That a miracle done outside the Father’s instruction<\/strong> was justifiable if it relieved personal suffering.<\/p>\n If Jesus had obeyed, He would have:<\/p>\n Broken the unity of trust<\/strong> between Him and the Father.<\/p>\n Given in<\/strong> to the lie that God gives stones<\/em> instead of bread<\/em>.<\/p>\n Acted outside divine timing<\/strong>, violating complete dependence on God (John 5:19).<\/p>\n But Jesus refused to perform a miracle under Satan\u2019s suggestion. He responded in verse 4:<\/p>\n \u201cBut Jesus answered him, saying, \u2018It is written, \u201cMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.\u201d\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3<\/strong>, highlighting that God\u2019s Word is the real bread<\/strong>, and true provision comes from trusting Him<\/strong>, not from giving in to Satan\u2019s offers.<\/p>\n Just like Jesus, we too go through wilderness seasons <\/strong>times of waiting, testing, and need. And just like Jesus, we are tempted to compromise.<\/p>\n Satan still uses the same tactic:<\/p>\n He places \u201cstones\u201d in front of us<\/strong> and tries to convince us they are \u201cbread\u201d.<\/p>\n He disguises compromises<\/strong> as solutions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n He offers shortcuts<\/strong> during times of vulnerability.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Be discerning:<\/p>\n A job that causes you to violate your conscience<\/strong>, compromise your holiness<\/strong>, or ignore God\u2019s commands <\/strong>is a stone<\/strong>, not bread.<\/p>\n A relationship, business, or opportunity that leads you away from the truth of Christ is a trap<\/strong>, not a blessing.<\/p>\n “Stones” include:<\/strong><\/p>\n Jobs involving bribes, dishonesty, or corruption (Prov. 11:1)<\/p>\n Work that uses your body for money or vanity (1 Cor. 6:18\u201320)<\/p>\n Anything that leads you into sin or away from worshipping the true God (Exodus 20:3)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n God never answers your prayers with sin.<\/strong> If it’s not righteous, it’s not from Him.<\/p>\n God is never late. He tests our faith, but He never abandons us.<\/p>\n \u201cBut those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength\u2026\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n If you’re in a season of lack or waiting:<\/p>\n Don’t rush ahead of God.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t settle for what the enemy offers.<\/p>\n Bread from God<\/strong> always comes in His time and way and it’s always satisfying and pure (James 1:17).<\/p>\n Are you trusting God\u2019s provision, or are you tempted to take shortcuts?<\/p>\n We are living in the last days (2 Timothy 3:1). Jesus is returning soon, and this world is passing away (1 John 2:17). If you haven\u2019t yet given your life to Him:<\/p>\n Today is the day of salvation<\/strong> (2 Corinthians 6:2).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Repent of your sins. Accept Jesus as Lord. Let your name be written in the Book of Life<\/strong> (Revelation 21:27). Only in Him will you find true bread that satisfies <\/strong>the Bread of Life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Jesus said to them, \u2018I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Don\u2019t accept the enemy\u2019s stones<\/strong> when your Father has promised you bread<\/strong>.
