Welcome again as we study the words of life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>1. <strong>God Reveals His Secrets to His Prophets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cSurely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 3:7 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These words were written by <strong>the prophet Amos<\/strong>, a shepherd from Tekoa. He was compelled to write after God revealed to him events that were about to come upon the land of <strong>Israel<\/strong> in his day, as well as future events that would affect the <strong>whole world in the last days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He was grateful to God for the revelation because, had these events come suddenly without warning, he wondered what his fate would have been. His gratitude reflects the truth that <strong>prophetic revelation is a form of divine mercy <\/strong>giving people a chance to repent and prepare.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>2. <strong>Judgment on Israel and the Nations<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Among the visions Amos received were revelations concerning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>judgment of surrounding nations<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>The impending <strong>captivity of Israel<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>great earthquake<\/strong> that was to strike the land.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe words of Amos, who was among the sheepbreeders of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, <strong>two years before the earthquake<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 1:1 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This historical detail highlights the prophetic accuracy of Amos. He saw these things <em>two years<\/em> before they occurred proof that God truly spoke through him.<\/p>\n<p>Amos exposed the rampant <strong>injustice<\/strong>, <strong>corruption<\/strong>, <strong>bribery<\/strong>, and <strong>moral decay<\/strong> in Israel. He condemned the rich who oppressed the poor, and a society that had <strong>forgotten God<\/strong>. God commanded Amos to <strong>warn the people to repent<\/strong>, for only then could they escape His coming judgment:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cSeek the Lord and live, lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, with no one to quench it in Bethel\u2026 The One who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns the shadow of death into morning\u2026 The Lord is His name.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 5:6, 8 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet the people <strong>refused to listen<\/strong>, and judgment fell.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>3. <strong>The Earthquake: A Sign of Divine Wrath<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>earthquake<\/strong> that Amos foretold was so severe that even the prophet <strong>Isaiah<\/strong> referenced its aftermath:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cTherefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people; He has stretched out His hand against them and stricken them, and the hills trembled. Their corpses were as refuse in the midst of the streets\u2026\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Isaiah 5:25 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The earthquake was <strong>devastating<\/strong>. Many died. Homes collapsed. People ran in panic through the streets.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cShall the land not tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? All of it shall swell like the River, Heave and subside Like the River of Egypt.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 8:8 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This event was so deeply imprinted in Israel&#8217;s memory that even the prophet <strong>Zechariah<\/strong>, writing long after Amos, used it to illustrate the kind of <strong>global earthquake<\/strong> that will occur when <strong>Christ returns<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThen the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations\u2026 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives\u2026 And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two\u2026 and you shall flee through My mountain valley\u2026 yes, you shall flee <strong>as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Zechariah 14:3\u20135 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>4. <strong>The Day of the Lord: A Day of Darkness<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Amos also saw far into the future to the coming <strong>\u201cDay of the Lord\u201d<\/strong>. What he saw was terrifying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWoe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be darkness, and not light\u2026\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 5:18\u201320 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAnd it shall come to pass in that day,\u201d says the Lord God, \u201cThat I will make the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Amos 8:9 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u201cDay of the Lord\u201d is not something to wish for lightly. It is a day of <strong>cosmic judgment<\/strong>, not celebration. This event ties directly to <strong>end time prophecy<\/strong> as described in the Book of Revelation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThen the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air\u2026 and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth\u2026 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Revelation 16:17\u201320 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even Jesus Himself spoke of this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cImmediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven\u2026 Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn\u2026\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Matthew 24:29\u201330 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>5. <strong>The Earth Will Be Desolate\u00a0 Few People Will Survive<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>These events will make the world <strong>desolate<\/strong>. The prophet Isaiah also saw this final judgment:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cBehold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate\u2026 I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold\u2026 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth will move out of her place\u2026\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Isaiah 13:9\u201313 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The earth will be shaken so violently that even <strong>islands<\/strong> will be moved. Perhaps islands like <strong>Zanzibar<\/strong> will shift location or disappear entirely.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>6. <strong>The Call to Repentance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>These are <strong>not myths or symbolic fairy tales <\/strong>they are <strong>real events<\/strong> that are coming upon the earth. The prophets of God have spoken. We are truly in the <strong>last days<\/strong>, and the time to return to God is <strong>now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>God is warning us in advance just as He warned in the days of Amos. He is giving us a chance to <strong>repent<\/strong>, to <strong>leave our sins<\/strong>, and to <strong>seek salvation in Christ<\/strong> before the coming judgment.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cRepent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord\u2026\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Acts 3:19 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Many today are being warned through <strong>dreams and visions<\/strong>. The final moments of this age are at hand.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>7. <strong>Beware of False Prophets and Earthly Only Gospel<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Stay away from teachings that only focus on <strong>earthly success<\/strong> and ignore the realities of eternity. Many false prophets preach only what pleases the flesh, not what prepares the soul.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cFor what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Mark 8:36 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These false teachers don&#8217;t warn people about sin, hell, or judgment. They preach <strong>comfort without conviction<\/strong>. But the true prophets\u2014like Amos, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Zechariah <strong>called people to repentance<\/strong> and warned about the <strong>end times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now is the time to <strong>repent<\/strong>, believe the Gospel, and live in holiness. The <strong>rapture of the Church<\/strong> is near. Let\u2019s not be among those left behind to suffer the full wrath of God.
