\u201cI am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.\u201d
John 15:1-2<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If you\u2019ve ever been involved in farming or gardening, even in a small way, you probably understand the relationship between the vine, its branches, and the fruit it produces. A tree cannot bear fruit without a stem or trunk, and a trunk without branches cannot yield fruit either. Both the vine (Jesus)<\/strong> and the branches (believers)<\/strong> are essential for fruitfulness.<\/p>\n

In this analogy, Jesus identifies Himself as the true vine<\/strong>, the Father as the gardener<\/strong>, and believers as the branches<\/strong>. The Father is not just a passive observer He is deeply invested in the health and productivity of His vineyard. He seeks fruit. Not appearances. Not mere association. But fruit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Why Does God Prune Fruitful Branches?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jesus said that every branch that bears fruit is pruned<\/strong> so that it may bear even more fruit<\/strong> (John 15:2).
To \u201cprune\u201d means to cut away anything unnecessary<\/strong> or harmful in order to promote better growth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A skilled gardener knows that if a plant is left to grow wildly, it will produce many branches<\/strong>, but not necessarily healthy fruit<\/strong>. Some branches will take up nutrients and energy but produce nothing in return. So the gardener cuts off unfruitful or weak branches<\/strong> to redirect the plant’s strength to the branches that actually bear fruit.<\/p>\n

Similarly, a coffee farmer, for example, will cut off the top shoot of a coffee plant<\/strong> so it doesn\u2019t grow too tall and unproductive. He\u2019ll also remove the sucker branches<\/strong> that grow close to the trunk but never bear fruit. Why? Because they waste nutrients<\/strong> that could otherwise support fruit bearing branches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The goal of pruning is not punishment <\/strong>it\u2019s productivity<\/strong>.
It\u2019s not about removing people<\/strong> God dislikes, but about nurturing those who are fruitful<\/strong>, and ensuring that the grace of God is not wasted<\/strong> on spiritual complacency.<\/p>\n

\n

Unfruitful Branches Are Cut Off<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n

\u201cIf anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.\u201d
John 15:6 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jesus is very clear: those who do not bear fruit<\/strong> will be cut off from Him.
This may sound harsh, but it\u2019s a consistent principle in the Bible: God invests His grace where there is spiritual return.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cFor whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance.
Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.\u201d
Matthew 25:29 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This truth disturbed even a Muslim friend I once spoke to. He asked, \u201cWhy would Jesus take away from someone who has nothing?\u201d
I explained: Jesus isn\u2019t talking about material possessions <\/strong>He\u2019s referring to spiritual fruit<\/strong>. If you have even a little spiritual fruit love, repentance, obedience God will add more. But if you remain barren<\/strong>, the grace you were given will be reassigned to someone else<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

A Warning to Fruitless Believers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Many Christians start strong <\/strong>they pray, fast, seek God passionately but then they cool off. They stop praying. The desire for God dies.
Why?<\/p>\n

Because they have been cut off from the Vine<\/strong>, or they\u2019re on the verge of being cut off<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That initial grace that fueled your prayer life, worship, or hunger for the Word if it goes unused, it will be given to someone else<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see others who were once weaker than you begin to flourish in faith, while you wither away. That\u2019s not coincidence it\u2019s divine redistribution of grace<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

What Fruit Is God Looking For?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fruit that God desires isn\u2019t church attendance, titles, or outward appearances. It is the fruit of the Spirit<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control<\/strong>.
Against such things there is no law.\u201d
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

God expects to find spiritual fruit<\/strong> in those who abide in Christ. These are the true indicators of a life rooted in Jesus.<\/p>\n

If instead of love we produce hatred<\/strong>, instead of joy we produce bitterness<\/strong>, instead of peace we breed division<\/strong>, then our claim to be \u201cin Christ\u201d becomes false<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

The Axe Is at the Root<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n

\u201cProduce fruit in keeping with repentance\u2026 The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.\u201d

\n

\u201cMake every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.<\/strong>\u201d
Hebrews 12:14 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Don\u2019t assume that God’s love means He will never act in judgment<\/strong>. His love demands fruit<\/strong>, and where there is no fruit, there is removal<\/strong>. Even Jesus said:<\/p>\n

\u201cSo take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.\u201d
Matthew 25:28 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

Heed the Voice of the Spirit Repent Today<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you still feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit telling you to repent and turn from sin, don\u2019t delay.<\/p>\n

Many people no longer feel that conviction they\u2019ve been cut off<\/strong>, and now the message of salvation sounds like foolishness to them. Don\u2019t let that be your fate.<\/p>\n

Are you living in sexual sin<\/strong>, drunkenness<\/strong>, worldly dressing<\/strong>, gossip<\/strong>, or spiritual laziness<\/strong>?
Then the Spirit of God is calling you to repent<\/strong> and become a fruitful branch<\/strong> once again.<\/p>\n

Reject the lie that says: \u201cI\u2019ll repent later\u201d <\/em>that\u2019s Satan\u2019s voice!
Reject the watered down gospel that says: \u201cGod is love, so He won\u2019t judge me.\u201d<\/em>
Yes, God is love<\/strong>, but He is also holy and just<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

Turn to Christ Be Baptized Bear Fruit<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Today is the day of salvation. Come to Jesus, repent of your sins, and be baptized in His name.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cRepent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy spirit.\u201dActs 2:38 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Don\u2019t waste the grace given to you. Don\u2019t be a dead branch.
Be a fruitful branch one that remains in the Vine.<\/strong><\/p>\n
