{"id":55500,"date":"2025-09-16T22:08:44","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T19:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wingulamashahidi.org\/?p=55500"},"modified":"2025-09-18T10:01:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T07:01:20","slug":"are-you-persecuting-your-savior","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wingulamashahidi.org\/en\/2025\/09\/16\/are-you-persecuting-your-savior\/","title":{"rendered":"ARE YOU PERSECUTING YOUR SAVIOR?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<h3><strong>\u201cSaul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?\u201d<em>Acts 9:4<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There are things you may do that seem right in your own eyes but in truth, they deeply grieve Christ.<\/p>\n<p>The Apostle Paul formerly known as Saul thought he was doing God&#8217;s work by opposing those who followed Jesus. He was zealous, believing he was defending the faith. But what he didn\u2019t realize was that he was actually fighting against Christ Himself.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until his dramatic encounter on the road to Damascus that the truth was revealed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cAnd falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, \u2018Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Who are you, Lord?\u2019 And he said, \u2018I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><em>Acts 9:4\u20135, ESV<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the original Greek, the word translated as \u201cpersecuting\u201d also carries the idea of <strong>\u201ccausing suffering\u201d<\/strong> or <strong>\u201charassing.\u201d<\/strong> Jesus was telling Saul: <em>\u201cYou&#8217;re not just opposing people you are attacking Me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>TWO GROUPS WHO PERSECUTE CHRIST TODAY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>1. <strong>Unbelievers Who Oppose the Church<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Paul is a prime example of a religious person who didn\u2019t know Jesus, yet aggressively opposed those who did. He dragged Christians out of their homes, imprisoned them, and even supported their execution (see Acts 8:1\u20133).<\/p>\n<p>Today, there are still people governments, communities, even individuals who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oppose true churches,<\/li>\n<li>Speak against God\u2019s servants,<\/li>\n<li>Mock or physically harm believers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But what they may not realize is that in doing so, <strong>they are persecuting Christ Himself.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cTruly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.\u201d<\/strong><em>Matthew 25:40, ESV<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in this category whether by actions, words, or attitudes <strong>repent today.<\/strong> Turn to Jesus and receive His mercy. Don\u2019t continue fighting the very One who died to save you.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>2. <strong>Believers Who Fall Away and Return to Sin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s another way people \u201cpersecute\u201d Christ and it comes from within the Church.<\/p>\n<p>This happens when someone has truly received salvation, experienced the Holy Spirit, and tasted the goodness of God&#8217;s Word <strong>but then willfully returns to their old sinful life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cFor it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened&#8230;and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.\u201d<\/strong><em>Hebrews 6:4\u20136, ESV<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is not just \u201cbacksliding\u201d it is <strong>re crucifying Christ<\/strong>, treating His sacrifice as something cheap. It\u2019s not just a mistake; it is spiritual rebellion.<\/p>\n<p>When you, as a believer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go back to sexual immorality,<\/li>\n<li>Indulge in drunkenness and worldly pleasures,<\/li>\n<li>Treat sin casually&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;<strong>you are wounding the Savior who died for you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s like a child striking his own father. Isn\u2019t that a curse?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>STOP PLAYING WITH SIN<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Don\u2019t grow comfortable in sin just because you\u2019re \u201calready saved.\u201d The sins of a believer are not like the sins of the world they are acts of <strong>spiritual betrayal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cIf we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left.\u201d<\/strong><em>Hebrews 10:26, NIV<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So ask yourself honestly:<\/p>\n<p><em>Did you receive Christ just to wound Him again?<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>RETURN TO HOLINESS<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Repent sincerely. Return to Christ before your heart becomes too hard to feel conviction.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cStrive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.\u201d<\/strong><em>Hebrews 12:14, ESV<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Love righteousness. Pursue a holy life. Jesus didn\u2019t die so we could live like the world. He died to <strong>set us free from sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unbelievers persecute Christ when they attack His Church.<\/li>\n<li>Believers persecute Christ when they return to sin after knowing the truth.<\/li>\n<li>Whether you\u2019re in the world or in the Church, if your life is grieving Christ, <strong>repent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Choose holiness. Follow Jesus with sincerity.
