According to Islamic tradition, it is regarded as the <strong>third holiest site<\/strong> in Islam:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Mecca (Makkah)<\/strong> \u2013 the birthplace of Muhammad,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Medina (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi)<\/strong> \u2013 site of Muhammad&#8217;s tomb,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Jerusalem (Al-Aqsa Mosque)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It is situated adjacent to the <strong>Dome of the Rock<\/strong>, another iconic Islamic structure.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Historical and Theological Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Islamic tradition teaches that Muhammad ascended to heaven from the Al-Aqsa Mosque in a night journey known as <strong>Isra and Mi&#8217;raj<\/strong>. However, the earliest historical evidence of the mosque being constructed appears in the <strong>late 7th century A.D.<\/strong>, under the <strong>Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the <strong>biblical significance<\/strong> of this location predates Islam by over a thousand years. According to the Bible, this is the site of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Mount Moriah<\/strong>, where <strong>Abraham<\/strong> was willing to sacrifice <strong>Isaac<\/strong> (Genesis 22:2),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <strong>First Temple<\/strong>, built by <strong>Solomon<\/strong> (2 Chronicles 3:1),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <strong>Second Temple<\/strong>, rebuilt after the Babylonian exile (Ezra 6:15),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The place where <strong>Jesus<\/strong> taught and overturned the tables of money changers (Luke 19:45\u201346).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>The Qibla (Prayer Direction): A Brief Comparison<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Arabic term <strong>Qibla<\/strong> means <strong>\u201cdirection\u201d<\/strong>\u2014the orientation Muslims face during prayer. Historically, the first Qibla was <strong>Jerusalem<\/strong>, but was later changed to <strong>Mecca<\/strong> (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:144, Qur\u2019an).<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the Bible teaches that God does not require a specific <strong>geographic direction<\/strong> for worship. Jesus said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem&#8230; God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>John 4:21\u201324 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Will the Al-Aqsa Mosque Remain Forever?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Bible teaches that the <strong>Jewish Temple<\/strong> once stood on <strong>Mount Moriah<\/strong>\u2014the same area where the <strong>Al-Aqsa Mosque<\/strong> now stands.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThen Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>2 Chronicles 3:1 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That Temple was destroyed <strong>twice<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>By the <strong>Babylonians<\/strong> in 586 B.C. (2 Kings 25:9),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>And later by the <strong>Romans<\/strong> in 70 A.D., as Jesus Himself foretold:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNot one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>Matthew 24:2 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Following the second destruction, the <strong>Jewish people were dispersed<\/strong>, fulfilling prophecy:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI will scatter you among the nations and draw out my sword and pursue you.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>Leviticus 26:33 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During this dispersion, the region fell into Arab-Muslim control, and eventually the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock were built on the Temple Mount.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>God\u2019s Promise of Restoration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>judgment of exile<\/strong> was never permanent. God promised to <strong>gather His people<\/strong> again:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI will bring my people Israel back from exile&#8230; They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>Amos 9:14 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This began to be fulfilled in <strong>1948<\/strong>, when the modern state of <strong>Israel was re-established<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But prophecy goes further\u2014Scripture indicates that a <strong>Third Temple<\/strong> will be built.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Ezekiel 40\u201348<\/strong>, a detailed vision is given of a future Temple far grander than the previous ones. This Temple has <strong>not yet been built<\/strong>. Orthodox Jews today are actively preparing for this event\u2014collecting materials, training priests, and reconstructing Temple instruments.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Why Must the Al-Aqsa Mosque Be Removed?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For the <strong>Third Temple<\/strong> to be built on <strong>Mount Moriah<\/strong>, the current Islamic structures\u2014including the <strong>Al-Aqsa Mosque<\/strong> and <strong>Dome of the Rock<\/strong>\u2014must be <strong>removed<\/strong>. This may happen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Peacefully<\/strong>, through negotiations or agreement,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Forcefully<\/strong>, through conflict or natural events,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Or <strong>supernaturally<\/strong>, by divine intervention.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regardless of how, the Bible declares it will happen.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east&#8230; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>Ezekiel 43:4\u20135 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And the New Testament warns that before Christ returns, a <strong>man of lawlessness (Antichrist)<\/strong> will enter the temple and declare himself to be God:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHe will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God\u2019s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>2 Thessalonians 2:4 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This requires a literal <strong>Temple<\/strong> in Jerusalem\u2014meaning the current Islamic structures <strong>cannot remain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Did Muhammad Ascend to Heaven?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Islam teaches that Muhammad ascended to heaven during the <strong>Isra and Mi\u2019raj<\/strong>. However, the <strong>Bible<\/strong> only affirms <strong>three individuals<\/strong> who were taken up to heaven:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Enoch<\/strong> \u2013 \u201c&#8230;then he was no more, because God took him away.\u201d \u2014 <strong>Genesis 5:24 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Elijah<\/strong> \u2013 \u201c&#8230;Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.\u201d \u2014 <strong>2 Kings 2:11 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Jesus Christ<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cHe was taken up before their very eyes&#8230;\u201d \u2014 <strong>Acts 1:9 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>Qur\u2019an<\/strong> does not confirm the crucifixion or divinity of Christ, yet the Bible clearly states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSalvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <strong>Acts 4:12 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cJesus answered, \u2018I am the way and the truth and the life.
