A theological reflection on God’s unexpected timing in sending the Messiah\u2014and His soon return.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWho has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Throughout Israel’s history, the people awaited the promised Messiah, expecting Him to come during seasons of spiritual strength and political sovereignty. They anticipated His arrival during:<\/p>\n Yet God, in His sovereign wisdom, chose the darkest hour<\/strong>\u2014during the pagan Roman Empire’s rule\u2014when Israel was politically subdued, spiritually compromised, and culturally Hellenized.<\/p>\n Galatians 4:4\u20135 (ESV)<\/strong> It was God\u2019s perfect time<\/em>\u2014not man’s.<\/p>\n Jesus came not in a season of revival, but one of spiritual decay. There had been 400 years of prophetic silence<\/strong> since Malachi\u2014the last prophet of the Old Testament (Malachi 4:5\u20136). Religion had become ritualistic, the priesthood corrupt, and the Temple a marketplace.<\/p>\n Luke 16:14 (ESV)<\/strong> Jesus directly condemned the religious leaders of His day:<\/p>\n Matthew 23:27\u201328 (ESV)<\/strong> The system that was meant to guide people to God had become a barrier instead.<\/p>\n Despite the widespread apostasy, a faithful remnant remained<\/strong>\u2014men and women who still believed in the promises of God.<\/p>\n Luke 2:36\u201338 (ESV)<\/strong> A widow for 84 years, Anna chose to dedicate her life to prayer and intercession, embodying the spirit of perseverance in hope (Romans 12:12).<\/p>\n Luke 2:25\u201326 (ESV)<\/strong> These two are archetypes of the Church awaiting Christ\u2019s second coming\u2014faithful, watchful, and Spirit-led.<\/p>\n Just as many missed the Messiah’s first coming<\/strong>, many will also be unprepared for His return.<\/p>\n 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (ESV)<\/strong> Jesus Himself said:<\/p>\n Matthew 24:37\u201339 (ESV)<\/strong> Only those who are watchful and spiritually awake<\/strong>\u2014like Anna and Simeon\u2014will recognize the signs of His coming.<\/p>\n The same conditions that marked Jesus\u2019 first advent\u2014spiritual apathy, religious corruption, and cultural mockery\u2014are prevalent again today.<\/p>\n 2 Timothy 3:1\u20135 (ESV)<\/strong> 2 Peter 3:3\u20134 (ESV)<\/strong> Yet, for those who continue to watch and pray, Jesus will not come as a thief but as a Bridegroom for His ready Bride<\/strong> (Matthew 25:1\u201313).<\/p>\n Beloved, if you are among those still watching for His return\u2014do not lose heart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Romans 13:11 (ESV)<\/strong> Keep your eyes on Christ. The days may be dark, but these are the very times God chooses to work<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Luke 21:28 (ESV)<\/strong> Don\u2019t be among those who sleep or scoff. Be like Anna. Be like Simeon. Stay alert. Stay holy. Keep your lamp burning.<\/p>\n 2 Peter 1:10 (ESV)<\/strong> Jesus came as a tender shoot<\/strong>, unnoticed by most. He will return just as quietly\u2014for those who are truly ready<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t be caught unaware. Prepare your heart now<\/strong>. Let your life reflect His coming.<\/p>\n Amen. \n1. The Messiah Came in an Unexpected Time<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\nto redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n2. Spiritual Drought and Religious Hypocrisy<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n\u201cThe Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n\u201cWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people\u2019s bones and all uncleanness.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n3. God\u2019s Remnant Recognized Him<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\n\u201c…She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day… she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nSimeon the Righteous<\/strong><\/h4>\n
\n\u201cNow there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel… and it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord\u2019s Christ.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n4. The First Coming Mirrors the Second<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n\u201cFor you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n\u201cFor as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man… they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n5. Signs of the End Times Are Evident<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n\u201cBut understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money… having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n\u201c…scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing… They will say, \u2018Where is the promise of his coming?\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n6. Encouragement to the Faithful<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n\u201cFor salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\n\u201cNow when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\nConclusion: Make Your Calling Sure<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n\u201cTherefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
