When we study the Old Testament, we find the stories of faithful men and women\u2014patriarchs, prophets, kings, and servants of God. They were chosen, used mightily, and blessed by the Lord, yet many of their lives were marked by imperfection<\/strong>. Why?<\/p>\n Because the Mosaic Law<\/strong>, though holy, righteous, and good (Romans 7:12), was never meant to perfect mankind<\/strong>\u2014it served as a temporary guide, a shadow of the reality<\/strong> that was to come in Christ (Hebrews 10:1).<\/p>\n Romans 8:3 (NKJV)<\/strong> Let\u2019s consider King David. The Bible calls him \u201ca man after God\u2019s own heart\u201d<\/em> (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22), yet he committed acts that today would be considered sinful\u2014he married many wives (2 Samuel 5:13), and he orchestrated the death of Uriah the Hittite (2 Samuel 11). His son Solomon took it further with 700 wives and 300 concubines<\/strong> (1 Kings 11:3).<\/p>\n Despite these, God still used David and blessed him\u2014but we must understand this was not a license for sin<\/strong>, nor was it a pattern for us to follow today. These actions were tolerated under the Old Covenant due to the hardness of human hearts<\/strong>, not because they aligned with God\u2019s perfect will.<\/p>\n Acts 17:30 (NKJV)<\/strong> Matthew 19:8 (NKJV)<\/strong> Jesus did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it\u2014to complete<\/strong>, embody<\/strong>, and clarify<\/strong> it. He showed us the spiritual depth<\/strong> behind the commandments, which were often misunderstood or reduced to external observances.<\/p>\n Matthew 5:17\u201318 (NKJV)<\/strong> Colossians 2:17 (NKJV)<\/strong> The Old Covenant\u2014including its priesthood, sacrifices, temple rituals, and moral regulations\u2014pointed forward to Christ. They were incomplete without Him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Hebrews 10:1 (NKJV)<\/strong> It\u2019s a dangerous misinterpretation to say, \u201cDavid wasn\u2019t baptized, so I don\u2019t need to be\u201d<\/em> or \u201cDavid had many wives, so polygamy must be acceptable.\u201d<\/em> This thinking ignores the progressive revelation of God\u2019s will<\/strong>, which was fully revealed in Christ.<\/p>\n Jesus said:<\/p>\n John 3:3 (NKJV)<\/strong> And again:<\/p>\n Mark 16:16 (NKJV)<\/strong> Baptism is not optional\u2014it is an act of obedience and the public testimony of our new life in Christ (Romans 6:3\u20134; Acts 2:38).<\/p>\n Jesus restored God\u2019s original design for marriage\u2014one man, one woman<\/strong>, united for life (Genesis 2:24).<\/p>\n Matthew 19:9 (NKJV)<\/strong> While Moses permitted divorce due to human weakness, Jesus affirms that God\u2019s original design never included divorce or polygamy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Many false doctrines have arisen\u2014such as purgatory<\/strong>, or the idea that the dead can be prayed into heaven. But Scripture is clear:<\/p>\n Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV)<\/strong> There is no \u201csecond chance\u201d after death. Once a person dies, their eternal destiny is sealed\u2014either with Christ in paradise<\/strong> or separated from Him in eternal judgment<\/strong> (Luke 16:19\u201331; Revelation 20:11\u201315).<\/p>\n David was a great man of faith, but he is not our final example<\/strong>. Jesus is. David sinned and needed God\u2019s mercy just like the rest of us. But Jesus never sinned<\/strong> (Hebrews 4:15) and is the only perfect standard we are called to follow.<\/p>\n John 14:6 (NKJV)<\/strong> Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)<\/strong> Matthew 17:5 (NKJV)<\/strong> Acts 4:12 (NKJV)<\/strong> Do not rely on traditions, partial truths, or the examples of Old Testament saints. Christ is the fulfillment of all things. Trust in Him, obey His words, and receive the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n Hebrews 1:1\u20134 (NKJV)<\/strong> These are the final hours of mercy<\/strong>.
