Introduction: Faith Is Multidimensional<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of the most foundational yet deeply misunderstood themes in Scripture is faith<\/strong>. The Bible addresses faith in many dimensions \u2014 saving faith, healing faith, persevering faith, and the gift of faith among others (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:9; Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 11:1). Like education, faith is not one-dimensional nor ever complete. It grows, matures, and deepens over time (2 Thessalonians 1:3).<\/p>\n

Too often, believers treat all faith the same, expecting every kind of faith to yield the same results \u2014 miracles, salvation, blessings, etc. But Scripture shows us that not every expression of faith produces the same outcomes, nor is every kind of faith pleasing to God.<\/p>\n

\n

Illustration: Faith Is Like Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Two individuals may both be educated, holding degrees and accolades. Yet their knowledge is domain-specific. A pilot cannot perform brain surgery, and a surgeon cannot fly a commercial aircraft. Both are competent in their fields, but outside of their area of expertise, they would be completely ineffective \u2014 perhaps even dangerous.<\/p>\n

The same applies to faith<\/strong>. One may have strong faith for healing but lack faith for salvation. Another may believe God for provision but struggle to trust Him in trials. Faith functions within spiritual maturity and revelation<\/strong>. It must be cultivated, directed, and built on the right foundation \u2014 Jesus Christ<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

Different Kinds of Faith in Scripture<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Scripture describes several kinds of faith. Let\u2019s explore them briefly:<\/p>\n

1. Saving Faith<\/strong> \u2013 The Faith That Justifies<\/h3>\n

\u201cFor by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.\u201d
\n\u2013 Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is the foundational faith every believer must possess \u2014 faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. It is the faith that leads to justification (Romans 5:1), and without it, no one can be saved (Acts 16:31).<\/p>\n

2. Faith for Healing and Miracles<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cAnd He said to her, \u2018Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.\u2019\u201d
\n\u2013 Luke 8:48 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This kind of faith receives physical or emotional healing and is often activated through trust in God\u2019s power and goodness. It can exist even in non-believers, as we will see.<\/p>\n

3. The Gift of Faith<\/strong> \u2013 A Spiritual Gift<\/h3>\n

\u201c…to another faith by the same Spirit…\u201d
\n\u2013 1 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This supernatural kind of faith is given by the Holy Spirit and is not tied to salvation. It is a temporary, powerful endowment for a specific purpose \u2014 usually involving miracles or divine interventions.<\/p>\n

\n

A Roman Centurion\u2019s Remarkable Faith<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Text: Luke 7:1\u201310 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this passage, we meet a Gentile centurion<\/strong> \u2014 a Roman military officer stationed in Capernaum \u2014 who exhibits one of the greatest expressions of faith in the entire New Testament.<\/p>\n

Key Verses:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFor I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, \u2018Go,\u2019 and he goes; and to another, \u2018Come,\u2019 and he comes; and to my servant, \u2018Do this,\u2019 and he does it.\u201d
\n\u2013 Luke 7:8 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus responds in awe:<\/p>\n

\u201cI say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!\u201d
\n\u2013 Luke 7:9b (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This man was not a Jew, nor did he know the Torah intimately. He had no formal training in the Scriptures. Yet, he recognized authority<\/em> \u2014 and believed Jesus only had to speak a word for his servant to be healed.<\/p>\n

This was not saving faith, but it was faith rooted in revelation through life experience<\/strong>. He understood that Jesus operated with divine authority, and he appropriated<\/em> that understanding into faith.<\/p>\n

\n

A Canaanite Woman\u2019s Great Faith<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Text: Mark 7:24\u201330; Matthew 15:21\u201328<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another striking example is the Syrophoenician woman from the region of Tyre and Sidon (modern-day Lebanon). She was a Gentile \u2014 and when she came to Jesus, He initially refused her request:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not good to take the children\u2019s bread and throw it to the little dogs.\u201d
\n\u2013 Matthew 15:26 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But her reply demonstrated deep humility and persistence:<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters\u2019 table.\u201d
\n\u2013 Matthew 15:27 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cO woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.\u201d
\n\u2013 Matthew 15:28 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Again, we see a non-Jewish person<\/strong> demonstrating great faith through spiritual insight \u2014 despite having no formal access to the covenants of Israel.<\/p>\n

\n

Theology of Faith: Revelation vs. Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Many people, including non-believers, can exhibit great faith based on life experience<\/em>, logic, or desperation. But the highest form of faith \u2014 \u201cMother Faith\u201d \u2014 is not based on experience. It is based on revelation<\/strong>, specifically, the revelation of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.\u201d
\n\u2013 Romans 10:17 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Greek term for \u201cword\u201d here is \u1fe5\u1fc6\u03bc\u03b1 (rhema)<\/strong> \u2014 the spoken, revealed word. In context, this refers to the message of Christ<\/strong> (i.e., the Gospel), not just general Bible verses.<\/p>\n

What Is “Mother Faith”?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cMother Faith\u201d<\/strong> is the foundational faith that comes not by miracles<\/strong>, not by experience<\/strong>, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ<\/strong>. It is:<\/p>\n
