Shalom!<\/strong> One of the great truths revealed in the Gospels is that the power of Jesus<\/strong> is not only real, but it is accessible<\/strong>\u2014not just to His disciples or those who were close to Him, but to anyone who believes<\/strong>. Let’s dive into the Gospel of Mark chapter 5<\/strong>, using the NIV (New International Version)<\/strong>, and see what it teaches us about receiving this power.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, \u2018My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.\u2019 So Jesus went with him…\u201d<\/strong> As Jesus responded to Jairus\u2019 request, another powerful moment happened:<\/p>\n \u201cAnd a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors… When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, \u2018If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.\u2019 Immediately her bleeding stopped…\u201d<\/strong> Jesus, aware that power<\/strong> had gone out from Him, turned and asked, \u201cWho touched my clothes?\u201d (v. 30)<\/p>\n \u201cDaughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.\u201d<\/strong> Many people imagine that Jesus felt physical weakness when power left Him\u2014like a man tired from hard labor. But Scripture shows us something deeper: the power that left Jesus was not physical<\/strong> but spiritual<\/strong>\u2014specifically, the power of the Holy Spirit working through Him<\/strong> (see Luke 5:17).<\/p>\n This wasn\u2019t a passive event either. Though Jesus was surrounded by a crowd, only one person drew power from Him<\/strong>\u2014the woman who touched Him with faith<\/strong>. The Greek word used here for \u201cpower\u201d is dynamis<\/em><\/strong>, meaning miraculous power or ability<\/strong>\u2014the same word used for the power that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 1:4).<\/p>\n This moment shows us two important theological truths:<\/p>\n Jesus didn\u2019t say, \u201cYour knowledge healed you,\u201d or \u201cYour good works healed you.\u201d He said, \u201cYour faith has healed you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n This is consistent with the New Testament teaching that healing, salvation, and all spiritual gifts are accessed through faith by grace<\/strong>:<\/p>\n \u201cFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith\u2014and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.\u201d This means you don’t need to be a spiritual \u201cexpert\u201d to receive something from God. You simply need to believe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n While Jesus was still speaking, people arrived to tell Jairus, \u201cYour daughter is dead.\u201d But Jesus replied:<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid; just believe.\u201d<\/strong> (Mark 5:36, NIV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n He then went to the house, took the girl by the hand, and said:<\/p>\n \u201cTalitha koum!\u201d (which means \u201cLittle girl, I say to you, get up!\u201d)<\/strong> (v. 41)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Immediately, she got up and walked. The same power (dynamis)<\/strong> that healed the woman with the issue of blood also raised this little girl from the dead.<\/p>\n This is resurrection power\u2014the same power the apostle Paul refers to in:<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you…\u201d<\/strong> (Romans 8:11, NIV)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Lord Jesus hasn\u2019t run out of power. Hebrews 13:8<\/strong> says:<\/p>\n \u201cJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The power that healed the sick, cast out demons, and raised the dead is still active<\/strong> through the Holy Spirit today. And you can receive it right now<\/strong> by faith\u2014just like the woman in Mark 5.<\/p>\n You don\u2019t need to have everything figured out. You don\u2019t need to be a pastor or a prophet. You don\u2019t need years of fasting or deep theology. All you need is faith<\/strong> in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n Reaching out to Jesus in faith isn’t limited to healing. You can also receive:<\/p>\n And most importantly:<\/p>\n Just like the woman in Mark 5, you can \u201ctouch the hem of His garment\u201d today. How? By simply believing and reaching out to Jesus in prayer.<\/p>\n \u201cLord, today I want to be Your chosen vessel. Shape me, mold me, and fill me with Your Spirit. Let Your power flow through my life\u2014not just for my own needs but for the sake of others.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Then begin to live a life aligned with that prayer\u2014walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7), and let the Holy Spirit lead you day by day.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t wait until you feel \u201cworthy\u201d or spiritual enough to approach Jesus. Reach out now. Believe. Receive.<\/strong> That moment of faith can become the beginning of your transformation.<\/p>\n May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you, heal you, empower you, and lead you into deeper fellowship with Him.<\/p>\n
