I believe the Lord has prepared something profound for us today \u2014 something that will open our understanding and draw us deeper into His will.<\/p>\n Today, we will meditate on \u201cThe Apostolic Commission\u201d \u2014 the divine assignment that the Apostle Paul received directly from the risen Lord Jesus Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n Paul\u2019s conversion and calling are among the most striking events in Scripture. \u201cAs he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. This initial encounter reveals several deep truths:<\/p>\n Christ identifies Himself with His Church.<\/strong> When Saul persecuted believers, Jesus said, \u201cWhy are you persecuting Me<\/strong>?\u201d<\/em> (v. 4). True conversion begins with revelation.<\/strong> Saul did not merely change his religion; his spiritual eyes were opened to see who Jesus truly is \u2014 \u201cthe Son of God\u201d<\/em> (Acts 9:20).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n The call precedes the mission.<\/strong> Before Saul was sent, he was humbled, blinded, and transformed. Only then did the Lord speak his purpose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Years later, standing before King Agrippa, Paul gave a fuller account of what the Lord told him that day.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I said, \u2018Who are You, Lord?\u2019 This passage outlines four dimensions of Paul\u2019s apostolic calling:<\/strong><\/p>\n The first aspect of Paul\u2019s commission was spiritual enlightenment<\/strong>. 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NKJV)<\/strong> To \u201copen their eyes\u201d means to bring people to the knowledge of truth<\/strong> \u2014 to reveal Christ, the true Light of the world (John 8:12). Psalm 119:130 (KJV)<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cThe entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n When the Word enters the heart, blindness is removed, and truth transforms the soul.<\/p>\n The second command was to turn people from darkness to light.<\/strong><\/p>\n Darkness represents sin, rebellion, and moral corruption. Ephesians 5:8\u201311 (NKJV)<\/strong> Repentance (Greek: metanoia<\/em>) means a complete change of mind and direction. Paul preached that true repentance must produce fruit \u2014 a visible transformation.<\/p>\n Acts 26:20 (ESV)<\/strong> Therefore, repentance involves both confession and<\/strong> forsaking sin:<\/p>\n Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV)<\/strong> Thirdly, Paul\u2019s mission was to deliver people from the dominion of Satan \u2014 from spiritual bondage, deception, and sin\u2019s tyranny \u2014 and bring them under God\u2019s authority.<\/p>\n Jesus Himself described His ministry in similar terms:<\/p>\n Luke 4:18 (NKJV)<\/strong> Deliverance is not merely about casting out demons; it\u2019s about transferring allegiance \u2014 moving from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God\u2019s dear Son.<\/p>\n Colossians 1:13\u201314 (NKJV)<\/strong> Thus, Paul\u2019s message was a message of liberation \u2014 freedom from sin, deception, and the grip of the enemy.<\/p>\n Finally, Paul was sent so that people might receive forgiveness of sins<\/strong> and become heirs<\/strong> among those sanctified by faith in Christ.<\/p>\n Forgiveness is not earned; it is received through faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.<\/p>\n Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)<\/strong> And those who believe become heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Romans 8:17 (ESV)<\/strong> Paul\u2019s gospel was centered on this grace \u2014 that sinners could be justified freely through faith (Romans 3:24\u201326). Every letter Paul wrote reflects these same four elements of his commission. Enlightenment<\/strong> through the truth of Christ.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Repentance<\/strong> and transformation from darkness.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Deliverance<\/strong> from sin\u2019s power.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Forgiveness and inheritance<\/strong> through faith.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n That\u2019s why the Lord exalted Paul\u2019s writings as foundational to Christian doctrine. They reflect the full purpose of the gospel \u2014 the restoration of fallen humanity to fellowship with God.<\/p>\n 2 Timothy 1:9 (NKJV)<\/strong> Beloved, the same message that transformed Paul\u2019s life calls out to us today. That our eyes be opened<\/strong> to the truth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n That we turn from darkness to light<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n That we forsake the power of Satan and turn fully to God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n That we receive forgiveness of sins<\/strong> and live as those sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n So let me ask you:<\/p>\n Have your spiritual eyes been opened?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Have you turned away from sin and embraced the light of Christ?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Have you truly forsaken the works of darkness and submitted to God?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Have you received forgiveness through genuine repentance and baptism into Christ?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n If not, this is your time. Now is the moment to make things right before God. 2 Corinthians 6:2 (ESV)<\/strong> The apostolic commission given to Paul is the same mission Christ entrusts to His Church today: Let us, therefore, walk in that calling \u2014 preaching not ourselves but Christ crucified, risen, and soon returning.<\/p>\n 1 Corinthians 1:23\u201324 (NKJV)<\/strong> May the Lord find us faithful to this same commission, until He comes again in glory. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n
\n1. Paul\u2019s Encounter with the Lord Jesus<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Before his encounter with Christ, Saul of Tarsus was known as a zealous Pharisee and a fierce persecutor of the early Church (Philippians 3:5\u20136; Acts 8:1\u20133).
But God, in His mercy, interrupted Saul\u2019s life on the road to Damascus.<\/p>\nActs 9:3\u20136 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, \u2018Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?\u2019
And he said, \u2018Who are You, Lord?\u2019
Then the Lord said, \u2018I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.\u2019
So he, trembling and astonished, said, \u2018Lord, what do You want me to do?\u2019
Then the Lord said to him, \u2018Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n2. The Full Commission Revealed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

And the Lord said, \u2018I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose,
to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen Me and to those in which I will appear to you,
delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles\u2014to whom I am sending you
to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n1. \u201cTo Open Their Eyes\u201d \u2014 The Call to Illumination<\/strong><\/h3>\n
In Scripture, blindness often symbolizes ignorance of God\u2019s truth (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Satan blinds the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cFor it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Paul\u2019s teaching ministry aimed to help believers discern God\u2019s will, understand Scripture, and walk in truth.<\/p>\n\n
\n2. \u201cTo Turn Them from Darkness to Light\u201d \u2014 The Call to Repentance<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Light represents holiness, righteousness, and truth in Christ.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cFor you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light\u2026
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
It\u2019s not merely feeling sorry for sin but turning away from it<\/strong> and walking toward the light of God\u2019s truth.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cThey should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
\u201cHe who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n3. \u201cTo Turn Them from the Power of Satan to God\u201d \u2014 The Call to Deliverance<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cThe Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
\u201cHe has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n4. \u201cThat They May Receive Forgiveness of Sins and an Inheritance\u201d \u2014 The Call to Reconciliation and Grace<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cIn Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
\u201cAnd if children, then heirs\u2014heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
This inheritance includes not only eternal life but the present reality of sonship, peace with God, and participation in His kingdom.<\/p>\n
\n3. The Continuity of the Apostolic Message<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Whether he addressed the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, or Ephesians, the message remained consistent:<\/p>\n\n

\u201cHe has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n4. A Call to Personal Reflection<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Christ wants these same four realities to be evident in our lives:<\/p>\n\n

The grace of God still speaks today \u2014 but the day of the Lord is near.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cBehold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\nConclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n
To open blind eyes, to proclaim repentance, to deliver the captives, and to declare forgiveness and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cBut we preach Christ crucified\u2026 Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
