The Church of Christ is compared to the human body. Just as a body has many different parts hands, feet, eyes, ears, mouth, etc. all functioning under the direction of one crucial part: the head. In the same way, the Body of Christ (the Church) has many members, but our Head is Christ Himself.<\/p>\n
The Bible teaches that we are all different parts of one body, and Christ is the Head. Just like in the human body, no part exists without a purpose, so it is with us in the Church. If you’re truly saved, then you have a role to play there\u2019s no such thing as a believer with no responsibility in the Body of Christ. One key trait of the body is how its parts work together in remarkable unity.<\/p>\n
\nEphesians 4:16 (NIV)<\/strong>
“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nYou can’t claim to be saved, then let months or even years go by without contributing in any way to the Body of Christ. If that\u2019s your reality, it may be a sign that you’ve become disconnected from the Body that you were cut off long ago. You may still attend services, but spiritually you\u2019re no longer recognized as part of the functioning body.<\/p>\n
If all you do is constantly receive preaching and teaching, but there’s no visible fruit or service in your life for Christ, it\u2019s time to seriously re-evaluate your walk with Him.<\/p>\n
\nCharacteristics of a Living Member in Christ<\/h3>\n
Here are three key signs that show someone is an active, living member of the Body of Christ:<\/p>\n
\n1. They Serve the Church with Their Resources<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Every Christian has a responsibility to give to the work of God. Supporting the spread of the Gospel isn\u2019t just for the benefit of those receiving it it\u2019s also the duty of those who are part of delivering it. Every believer is called to contribute, as God has blessed them, to ensure the mission continues.<\/p>\n
No one is exempt this responsibility belongs to every member of the Body.<\/p>\n
\n2. They Pray for the Church<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Prayer is at the heart of every Christian\u2019s life. Every member must lift up the global Church in prayer, even though we can’t all meet in person. Just as the parts of a physical body don\u2019t all interact directly but still work in harmony, so we are spiritually united in prayer.<\/p>\n
Eyes can’t wash themselves they need hands. And even one hand can’t function fully without the other. In the same way, we are called to support one another in prayer, bearing one another’s burdens.<\/p>\n
\n3. They Share the Good News with Others<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Jesus, our Head, gave us a clear command to go into all the world and make disciples. That commission wasn\u2019t just for a few; it was for all of us.<\/p>\n

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nEvery believer has been given a gift, a calling. Whether you’re a preacher, evangelist, teacher, prophet, singer, writer, or someone who ministers in other ways you are called to do it with passion, in Spirit and in truth. When you actively use your gift for the glory of God, that is evidence that you are a living, functioning member of Christ\u2019s Body.<\/p>\n
\nSo Why Are Many Christians Missing These Three Traits?<\/h3>\n
It\u2019s because they don\u2019t want to remain in Christ and walk in obedience to Him. And the truth is, if you don\u2019t stay connected to the Head, you can\u2019t function as part of the Body.<\/p>\n
Jesus Himself said:<\/p>\n
John 15:4\u20136 (NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nIf you\u2019re living a half-committed life\u2014one foot in the world, the other in the church\u2014you will never become a fruitful, living member. You\u2019ll be like a branch that\u2019s already been cut off, waiting to be burned.<\/p>\n
Remember, you don\u2019t need to have every gift\u2014just like the human body, no part does everything. But God has given each of us a unique gift that plays an essential role in the Church. Your gift matters.<\/p>\n
\nNow Is the Time to Become a Living Member<\/h3>\n
If you’re ready to truly live for Christ, then repent of your sins, return to Him fully, and if you haven’t already get baptized properly by full immersion in water, in accordance with Scripture:<\/p>\n

“Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water…”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nActs 2:38 (NIV)<\/strong>
“Peter replied, \u2018Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.\u2019”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nFrom that moment on, begin living a life that reflects the salvation you\u2019ve received.<\/p>\n
As you walk with Christ, you\u2019ll begin to see Him working through you. The gift He\u2019s placed in you will start to operate and you\u2019ll find your role in the Body of Christ. On that final day, you\u2019ll be honored with the reward meant for faithful, functioning members of His Church.<\/p>\n
