Shalom. May the name of our Lord Jesus Christ be blessed. Today, let us study the Scriptures and examine the unity of the Church from God\u2019s perspective. God\u2019s Word is the light to our path and a lamp to guide our steps (Psalm 119:105, ESV). When His Word dwells richly within us, our lives are illuminated\u2014we know where we\u2019ve come from, where we are, and where we are going. The light of His Word exposes both our past and present, and guides our future.<\/p>\n
Many believers today see denominational union as a positive development. After all, unity is commanded in Scripture:<\/p>\n
\n\n
- John 17:11 (ESV):<\/strong> \u201cHoly Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.\u201d<\/li>\n
- John 17:21 (NIV):<\/strong> \u201cThat all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.\u201d<\/li>\n
- Ephesians 4:3,13 (ESV):<\/strong> \u201cMake every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace\u2026 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n
These verses clearly emphasize spiritual unity<\/strong>. But we must ask: why then is denominational union not necessarily God\u2019s plan?<\/p>\n
\nThe Problem of Denominational Unity<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Consider this analogy:<\/p>\n
Two couples, each married before God, separate and divorce. Each remarries and has children. Years pass without contact. One day, by chance, all meet at work. Each introduces their new spouse and children. Because the first love is gone, they simply cooperate for practical or economic purposes.<\/p>\n
This is unity without covenant or love. In God\u2019s eyes, they remain in adultery<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
\n\n
- Luke 16:18 (KJV):<\/strong> \u201cWhosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her which is put away from her husband committeth adultery.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n
No matter how cooperative or benevolent these individuals may appear, their unity lacks holiness. Likewise, denominational unions may cooperate economically, socially, or in charitable works, but before God, if they are divided in doctrine and practice, they remain in spiritual adultery<\/strong>. This unity, therefore, is satanic<\/strong>, even if outwardly productive.<\/p>\n
\nBiblical Foundation: True Unity<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The early Church demonstrates true Godly unity:<\/p>\n
\n\n
- Acts 2:44 (ESV):<\/strong> \u201cAll who believed were together and had all things in common.\u201d<\/li>\n
- 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (NIV):<\/strong> \u201cJust as a body, though one, has many parts\u2026 so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n
There were no denominations. All believers shared the same Spirit, the same faith, and the same purpose. The Spirit of God binds believers together\u2014not denominational structures, rituals, or human traditions.<\/p>\n
\nDenominations: Containers, Not Unity<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Imagine being asked to pour 50 measures of rice into a clean sack, but instead you separate it into dozens of smaller containers. When poured back together, it is not truly unified\u2014the containers remain distinct. Similarly, denominations separate the Body of Christ into containers, each claiming to possess truth, yet none complete. God rejects this artificial separation:<\/p>\n

- Revelation 18:4 (NIV):<\/strong> \u201cCome out of her, my people, so that you do not take part in her sins.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n
God calls us to unity in Christ alone<\/strong>, not unity in denominational identity.<\/p>\n
\nTheological Consequences<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The union of denominations prepares the way for the Antichrist. Scripture warns that the spirit opposing Christ is religious at its core. The first opponents of Christ\u2014Pharisees and Sadducees\u2014were deeply religious leaders who misused God\u2019s law. They separated into factions yet united to oppose the Messiah:<\/p>\n

- John 16:2 (ESV):<\/strong> \u201cThey will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.\u201d<\/li>\n
- Matthew 22:34 (NIV):<\/strong> \u201cWhen the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Denominational unions can similarly stand against true Christians, creating a fertile ground for the Antichrist, who will enforce economic and religious control: the \u201cMark of the Beast\u201d (Revelation 13:16-17, NIV).<\/p>\n
\nFaith over Denomination<\/strong><\/h3>\n
We must examine ourselves:<\/p>\n

- Are we under the Word of God or under a denominational label?<\/li>\n
- Do we boast in our faith or in our church affiliation?<\/li>\n
- How well do we know Christ personally? (John 17:3, ESV)<\/li>\n
- Do we practice daily prayer, Scripture study, and evangelism without being told?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Denominational pride blinds many to spiritual reality. True unity requires returning to God\u2019s Word as the foundation of faith<\/strong>, not denominational loyalty. The harvest is near, Christ is coming, and the Antichrist has already prepared the world.<\/p>\n
\nConclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n
The union of denominations, though seemingly positive, is ultimately a spiritual deception<\/strong>. It is a union that serves human interests and the Enemy, rather than God. True Godly unity is spiritual, not organizational<\/strong>\u2014rooted in the Word of God and the Spirit of Christ.<\/p>\n
