As we all know, water serves at least four key purposes:<\/p>\n
The same is true of the living water within a believer\u2019s heart. It quenches the thirst for evil (Revelation 21:6; John 4:14), nourishes the soul with the goodness of God, cleanses the heart, and overwhelms the works of the enemy.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why Scripture says that when an unclean spirit leaves a person, it passes through waterless<\/strong> places. Why? Because where spiritual water is present, demons cannot stay\u2014it\u2019s like a flood to them. The “water-filled” place represents the heart of someone who is truly saved.<\/p>\n Luke 11:24\u201326 (ESV):<\/strong><\/p>\n “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, \u2018I will return to my house from which I came.\u2019 What many of us don\u2019t realize is that the water within us often remains like water from a well<\/strong>\u2014it stays in one place. This is the free grace every believer receives at salvation. But for that water to become rivers<\/strong>, flowing outward to bless others, it takes more than just saying \u201cI\u2019m saved.\u201d Something more must happen in your life.<\/p>\n Think about rivers. They flow far and wide, benefiting people who have no idea where the water originally came from. For instance, thousands of people in the Kilimanjaro region rely on water flowing from Mount Kilimanjaro, even though most of them don\u2019t know the exact source. Still, they benefit from it.<\/p>\n Even in Eden, God placed a river that flowed out from the center of the garden\u2014not to stay there, but to water the land beyond<\/strong> the garden and bless the nations (Genesis 2:10\u201314).<\/p>\n In the same way, the water you received the day you were saved\u2014like a spring from a well\u2014must begin to flow out<\/strong>. But for that to happen, something extra must take place.<\/p>\n That\u2019s why the disciples couldn\u2019t cast out a certain demon and were puzzled. Jesus explained:<\/p>\n Matthew 17:21 (NKJV):<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cHowever, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What doesn\u2019t come out?<\/p>\n The power<\/strong> of the water within you. For that water to turn into rivers, you must become a person of prayer. Not just casual prayer\u2014but persistent, consistent, never-ceasing<\/strong> prayer.<\/p>\n Anyone who devotes themselves to prayer will attract the presence of God into their life. Prayer is God\u2019s pump<\/strong>\u2014it draws the water out, so it can flow and bless others.<\/p>\n You cannot be a person of spiritual revelation without a habit of prayer. You can\u2019t minister to others effectively, or even intercede powerfully, if you don\u2019t live a life of prayer.<\/p>\n You want your husband to stop drinking? But you\u2019re not praying? You might see change in yourself\u2014but you won\u2019t have the power to change others. You want your family to be saved? Yet you\u2019re not committed to the price of fasting and persistent prayer? Then it may remain just a dream\u2014unless God decides to move by His sovereign will. But it won\u2019t be because of your desires alone.<\/p>\n And this isn\u2019t just about helping others. Even in areas of your own<\/strong> life\u2014where you want to see God intervene\u2014you must draw that water out through prayer so it can heal those parts.<\/p>\n Scripture tells us that we should always pray and not give up:<\/p>\n Luke 18:1 (NIV):<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThen Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n That\u2019s the only way answers come.<\/p>\n John 7:38 (NIV):<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n May the Lord bless you.<\/strong><\/p>\n
