The Bible portrays sin as rebellion against divine order \u2014 a transgression of God\u2019s holy law (1 John 3:4). When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, sin entered the world, and death came through sin (Romans 5:12).<\/p>\n From that moment, every person born of the flesh has inherited a sinful nature \u2014 the Adamic nature<\/em> \u2014 which inclines us toward rebellion against God. Even before one commits outward acts of sin, the heart is already corrupted.<\/p>\n Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Sin always appears pleasurable at first<\/strong> (Hebrews 11:25), but its end is destruction. Like a poisonous fruit that looks beautiful but kills the eater, sin entices through temporary pleasure, yet pays its servant with everlasting death.<\/p>\n Jesus clearly declared:<\/p>\n John 8:34 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMost assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Sin enslaves the soul. The sinner may think he is free, but in reality, he is chained to unseen spiritual bondage. Each act of sin tightens those chains \u2014 pride, lust, greed, bitterness, and deceit become cruel masters.<\/p>\n In the same way that a slave has no rights of his own and must serve his master, so the sinner serves sin until it destroys him. As Jesus added:<\/p>\n John 8:35 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cA slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Only the Son \u2014 Jesus Christ \u2014 can set a sinner free:<\/p>\n John 8:36 (NKJV<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cTherefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The wages sin pays is not merely physical death but also spiritual separation from God<\/strong> \u2014 the second death (Revelation 20:14\u201315).<\/p>\n The Bible uses many analogies to describe sin\u2019s deceitful rewards.<\/p>\n A laborer may work hard all his life yet be cheated at the end.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n An ox may toil on the farm, plowing hundreds of acres, only to be slaughtered when it grows old.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Likewise, a sinner may labor under sin\u2019s control for years \u2014 achieving fame, wealth, or pleasure \u2014 yet in the end, sin pays him with death<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cProverbs 14:12 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Even when sin brings temporal success, it carries within it the seeds of destruction. Adultery, fornication, corruption, idolatry, lies, witchcraft, or hatred may seem harmless, but they slowly kill the soul and eventually bring judgment.<\/p>\n James outlines the anatomy of sin<\/strong>:<\/p>\n James 1:14\u201315 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cEach one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The progression is clear:<\/p>\n Desire<\/strong> \u2014 A thought or feeling contrary to God\u2019s will.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Deception<\/strong> \u2014 The enemy convinces the mind that the act is harmless or justified.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Disobedience<\/strong> \u2014 The person acts upon the temptation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Death<\/strong> \u2014 The consequence, both physical and spiritual.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n This is why Scripture commands:<\/p>\n 2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n When desire rules the heart, death becomes inevitable.<\/p>\n Sin produces death in multiple forms:<\/p>\n This is the separation of the soul from God \u2014 the greatest tragedy of all. Adam did not die physically the day he sinned, but spiritually he became separated from God\u2019s presence (Genesis 3:23\u201324).<\/p>\n Many physical deaths in Scripture were the result of sin. Ananias and Sapphira died instantly because of deceit (Acts 5:1\u201311). Samson\u2019s disobedience led to his death among the Philistines (Judges 16:28\u201330).<\/p>\n This is the \u201csecond death\u201d \u2014 eternal punishment in the lake of fire for all who reject Christ (Revelation 21:8).<\/p>\n Sexual immorality and adultery:<\/strong> 1 Corinthians 6:18 warns, \u201cFlee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Corruption and dishonesty:<\/strong> Proverbs 11:1 says, \u201cDishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Hatred and unforgiveness:<\/strong> 1 John 3:15 \u2014 \u201cWhoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Rebellion and disrespect to parents:<\/strong> Ephesians 6:1\u20133 \u2014 \u201cHonor your father and mother\u2026 that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Idolatry and witchcraft:<\/strong> Galatians 5:19\u201321 lists them among the works of the flesh that lead to death.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Ecclesiastes 8:8 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cNo one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, and no one has power in the day of death.\u201d<\/em> \u2014<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Death is not something we can schedule or resist. It comes suddenly, like sleep \u2014 and after death, judgment follows.<\/p>\n Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Therefore, the call to repentance is not to be delayed. Jesus still opens the door of mercy to all who will turn away from sin.<\/p>\n God does not delight in the death of sinners:<\/p>\n Ezekiel 33:11 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201c\u2018As I live,\u2019 says the Lord GOD, \u2018I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.\u2019\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Christ came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). On the cross, He bore our sins and conquered death so that those who believe in Him might receive eternal life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n John 11:25 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.\u201d<\/em> \u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Salvation is not earned by works but is the free gift of God:<\/p>\n \u201cEphesians 2:8 (NKJV)<\/em><\/p>\n By grace you have been saved through faith\u2026 it is the gift of God.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n To escape the wages of sin, one must be born again<\/strong> (John 3:3).
