In the Gospels, there are two clear occasions where the Lord Jesus rebuked and drove away Satan openly.
\nThe first was when Satan offered Him the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship.
\nThe second was when Satan tried to comfort<\/em> Him \u2014 persuading Him not to face the suffering that was before Him.<\/p>\n

Let us read:<\/p>\n

Matthew 4:8\u201310
\n\u201cAgain, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory,
\nand he said to Him, \u2018All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.\u2019
\nThen Jesus said to him, \u2018Get thee hence, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.\u2019<\/em>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And again:<\/p>\n

Matthew 16:21\u201323
\n\u201cFrom that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
\nThen Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, \u2018Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!\u2019
\nBut He turned and said to Peter, \u2018Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.\u2019<\/em>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

THERE ARE BOUNDARIES YOU MUST NOT ALLOW SATAN TO CROSS<\/h3>\n

The Lord saw that there are spiritual boundaries that no person or creature should ever cross.
\nAnd when Satan crossed those lines, he was not only rebuked \u2014 he was driven away completely.<\/p>\n

The first boundary is worship.
\nSatan wanted Jesus to bow down to him in exchange for worldly glory \u2014 but Jesus refused immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Many today are willing to compromise their faith for the sake of worldly gain.
\nSome worship Satan through their actions \u2014 for money, fame, relationships, or status.
\nOthers are ready to bribe, to kill, to offer sacrifices, or to sell their bodies for financial security.
\nYet Jesus, though hungry and poor at that moment, still said: \u201cDepart from Me, Satan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beloved, when you reach a place where sin is presented as the price for comfort \u2014
\nDo not tolerate Satan even for a second!
\nDrive him away with all your strength, no matter how desperate your situation may be.<\/p>\n

\n

THE SECOND PLACE \u2014 WHEN SUFFERING IS NECESSARY FOR GOD\u2019S PURPOSE<\/h3>\n

The other moment when Jesus rebuked Satan was when the enemy tried to divert Him from the cross through Peter\u2019s words of compassion.
\nPeter said, \u201cThis shall never happen to You.\u201d<\/em> But Jesus discerned the voice behind those words \u2014 and cast it out immediately.<\/p>\n

If Jesus had listened to that voice, humanity would have no salvation today.
\nThe blood that redeems us would never have been shed.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, Satan uses the appearance of comfort to stop us from walking in God\u2019s perfect will.
\nHe tells you, \u201cYou don\u2019t have to suffer. You don\u2019t have to go through this.\u201d<\/em>
\nBut behind that whisper is a trap \u2014 a plan to stop you from reaching the glory God prepared for you.<\/p>\n

The Apostle Paul understood this clearly.
\nHe knew imprisonment and trials awaited him in Jerusalem, yet he said:<\/p>\n

Acts 21:12\u201313
\n\u201cWhen we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem.
\nThen Paul answered, \u2018Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Paul refused to be discouraged because he knew the fruit of obedience was far greater than the temporary pain of suffering.<\/p>\n

\n

DO NOT GIVE SATAN SPACE \u2014 IN DESIRE OR IN FEAR<\/h3>\n

As believers, we must not allow Satan to gain ground in two areas:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Through the lusts of the world that separate us from God.<\/li>\n
  2. Through the fear of suffering that prevents us from fulfilling God\u2019s plan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Stand firm. When Satan tempts you with promises of success, or tries to persuade you to avoid the cross \u2014 rebuke him at once.<\/p>\n

    \u201cResist the devil, and he will flee from you.\u201d<\/em> \u2014 James 4:7<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    May the Lord strengthen you to stand faithfully until the end.<\/p>\n
