\u201cCan you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:1\u20132<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

THE LORD\u2019S DESCRIPTION OF LEVIATHAN<\/h3>\n

In Job chapter 41, God gives Job a long and detailed description of a mysterious creature called Leviathan<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Lord uses the image of this mighty animal \u2014 which we know today as the crocodile \u2014 to reveal a far deeper spiritual truth. He was not simply describing a natural animal, but using it as a symbol of His spiritual \u201cLeviathan\u201d, a mighty being of the unseen world, whose characteristics Job was shown in this chapter.<\/p>\n

Some of the descriptions in the passage go far beyond what we see in the earthly crocodile. But that is because God often uses visible examples to help us understand invisible realities. So He clothed this revelation in the picture of a creature that men could recognize, in order to point to something far greater.<\/p>\n

THE UNIQUENESS AND POWER OF THIS CREATURE<\/h3>\n

In the vision, God shows Job how unique this creature is \u2014 unlike any other being in creation. From the creatures of the sea like fish, to the birds of the air, to the beasts of the field, none can compare with him.<\/p>\n

God emphasizes Leviathan\u2019s fierce strength, the hardness of his scales, and the invincible courage within him. No spear, sword, or arrow can pierce his armor. He is fearless and unconquerable. In short, there is no other creature on earth like him.<\/p>\n

THE DESCRIPTION OF LEVIATHAN (JOB 41)<\/h3>\n

\u201cCan you pull in Leviathan with a hook, or tie down its tongue with a rope?
\nWill it make a covenant with you, to take it as your slave for life?
\nCan you play with it like a bird or put it on a leash for your young women?
\nWill traders barter for it, or divide it up among the merchants?
\nCan you fill its hide with harpoons or its head with fishing spears?\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:1\u20137<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWho then is able to stand against Me?
\nWho has a claim against Me that I must pay?
\nEverything under heaven belongs to Me.\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:10\u201311<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cIts back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;
\neach is so close to the next that no air can pass between.
\nFlames stream from its mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.
\nSmoke pours from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
\nIts breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from its mouth.\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:15\u201321<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cIts heart is hard as a rock, hard as a lower millstone.
\nWhen it rises up, the mighty are terrified;
\nthey retreat before its thrashing.
\nSwords that strike it have no effect,
\nnor do spears or darts or javelins.\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:24\u201326<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOn earth it has no equal, a creature without fear.
\nIt looks down on all that are haughty;
\nit is king over all who are proud.\u201d
\n\u2014 Job 41:33\u201334<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

WHO IS THIS LEVIATHAN?<\/h3>\n

This mighty Leviathan is none other than the LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself!<\/p>\n

No kingdom, power, or authority can shake His dominion. The entire earth trembles before Him. He is not a mere creature of the sea \u2014 He is far greater than all. He is the King above all kings, the Lion of Judah, the Conqueror of all pride.<\/p>\n

HIS SPIRITUAL OFFSPRING<\/h3>\n

Just as Leviathan has his kind, so Christ has His own offspring \u2014 those who have believed in Him. The children of Christ carry His spiritual nature within them.<\/p>\n

When you receive the Lord Jesus through the new birth, you become a new creature on earth \u2014 no longer weak or prey to the world\u2019s snares, but strong in the Spirit, clothed in His power.<\/p>\n

A CALL TO REPENTANCE AND NEW LIFE<\/h3>\n

My friend, if you live in weakness \u2014 oppressed by sin, tormented by demons, troubled by the world \u2014 you will remain as vulnerable as small fish easily caught with hooks.<\/p>\n

But when you receive Christ Jesus into your heart, you are changed into something entirely different. You become a spiritual giant, feared by the powers of darkness.<\/p>\n

So today, repent of your sins sincerely, deciding to leave them behind. Say to the Lord Jesus:<\/p>\n

\u201cLord, I open my heart to You. Come into me.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He will surely come, forgive your sins, and give you the assurance of eternal life. He will make you a new creation.<\/p>\n

From that moment, declare with your actions and your life:<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus is mine, and I am His.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then go and be baptized if you have not yet done so \u2014 for that confirms your new nature.
\nYou will no longer be a weak fish, but a mighty Leviathan \u2014 strong, ruling, and victorious with Christ.<\/p>\n
