\n\u2014 Psalm 119:105<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blessed be the Name of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Welcome, beloved, as we study the Word of God \u2014 the light that guides our steps.<\/p>\n

There are three (3) types of idols that people worship:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Idols made in the likeness of man<\/li>\n
  2. Human idols<\/li>\n
  3. Material idols<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Let us look at each one in detail.<\/p>\n

    \n

    1. IDOLS MADE IN THE LIKENESS OF MAN<\/h2>\n

    These are lifeless objects made in the image of human beings \u2014 created by men for the purpose of worship.<\/p>\n

    The Bible describes the nature of such idols clearly:<\/p>\n

    \u201cTheir idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
    \nThey have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes, but they do not see.
    \nThey have ears, but they do not hear; noses, but they do not smell.
    \nThey have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk;
    \nnor do they make a sound in their throat.
    \nThose who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.\u201d
    \n\u2014 Psalm 115:4\u20138<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    These are the idols worshiped by pagans and even by some religious groups that call themselves Christian. You may find such statues placed in places of worship, where people bow down, offer gifts, and pray to them \u2014 things that are abominable before God.<\/p>\n

    \u201cYou shall not make for yourself a carved image\u2026 you shall not bow down to them or serve them.\u201d
    \n\u2014 Exodus 20:1\u20136<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    To bow before any image is a great sin in the sight of God.<\/p>\n

    \n

    2. HUMAN IDOLS<\/h2>\n

    This second kind of idol differs slightly from the first.
    \nThe first kind has eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot speak.
    \nThe second kind \u2014 though it breathes and walks \u2014 is still blind and deaf spiritually.<\/p>\n

    These idols are human beings.<\/p>\n

    Scripture confirms this truth:<\/p>\n

    \u201cSon of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house,
    \nwhich has eyes to see but sees not,
    \nand ears to hear but hears not;
    \nfor they are a rebellious house.\u201d
    \n\u2014 Ezekiel 12:1\u20132<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    So, idols are not only stones or metal figures \u2014 even people can become idols!<\/p>\n

    If you have not truly surrendered your life to JESUS CHRIST, then you yourself are an idol, because:<\/p>\n
