The human heart never develops a particular behavior or tendency without a source behind it. That source may be a person, an influence, a spiritual atmosphere, or a place. When a person dies or departs, the spirit<\/em> or pattern<\/em> of their character can continue influencing others. Once these patterns take deep root in people, Scripture refers to them as \u201cspirits\u201d<\/strong>\u2014not in the sense of ghosts, but the spiritual nature or influence<\/strong> that empowered that person.<\/p>\n This principle is found throughout Scripture.<\/p>\n In the Old Testament, Jezebel was a pagan queen who introduced sorcery, idolatry, and moral corruption into Israel (1 Kings 16:31\u201333). Even after her physical death, her spiritual influence<\/strong> continued. This is why the Lord Jesus, in the book of Revelation, refers again to \u201cthat woman Jezebel\u201d:<\/p>\n \u201cI know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance\u2026 Jesus was not referring to the literal Jezebel\u2014she had died centuries earlier\u2014 This shows how a sinful pattern can permeate generations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Likewise, Elijah\u2019s influence continued after his departure. His story is not only historical; it demonstrates an ongoing spiritual resistance<\/strong> against the gospel.<\/p>\n Elimas was a sorcerer<\/strong> and false prophet<\/strong> (v. 6).<\/p>\n He attempted to turn the proconsul away from the faith<\/strong> (v. 8).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, rebuked him:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n \u201cYou son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness\u201d (v. 10)<\/p>\n God struck him with temporary blindness (v. 11).<\/p>\n The proconsul believed after witnessing the power of God (v. 12).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Elimas represents more than one man\u2014he represents a spirit of opposition<\/strong> against the gospel.<\/p>\n His mission was simple: THE SPIRIT OF ELIMAS STILL OPERATES TODAY**<\/p>\n Though Elimas died long ago, his spiritual pattern continues. Today:<\/p>\n Many people instinctively oppose the gospel.<\/p>\n Some automatically reject every message about Christ.<\/p>\n Others constantly criticize every pastor, every sermon, every testimony. Some mock the Bible and discourage believers from following God.Many spread misinformation about Christ, Scripture, or salvation.<\/p>\n According to Scripture, this behavior is spiritual warfare<\/strong>:<\/p>\n \u201cThe god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Those who oppose the gospel may not know it, but they are acting under the same spiritual influence Elimas operated in\u2014 Paul calls such people:<\/p>\n Enemies of righteousness<\/strong><\/p>\n Perverters of God’s straight paths<\/strong><\/p>\n Sons of the devil<\/strong> (speaking spiritually)<\/p>\n This is why Jesus warns us:<\/p>\n \u201cTake care then how you hear\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Not every opinion should be welcomed.
