Welcome as we study the Bible, the Word of our God \u2014 the light for our path and the lamp for our feet (Psalm 119:105).<\/p>\n
This Word, which is a lamp, says:<\/p>\n
Jude 1:5 (ESV):<\/strong>
\n\u201cNow I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nThese Scriptures teach us that being saved is not the end of the journey<\/strong>. It is true that the entire army of Israel was delivered out of Egypt, yet not all of them entered the Promised Land. Only two did \u2014 Joshua and Caleb \u2014 along with the children born in the wilderness. Everyone else was destroyed in the wilderness, even though God had brought them out of Egypt.<\/p>\n
Today many are saved, and many confess Jesus, but many are also destroyed by the Lord because they do not walk with God in their salvation.<\/p>\n
Most of the Israelites were filled with pride (for example, Dathan and Korah \u2014 see Numbers 16:1\u201350). Others were full of complaining, idolatry, and constant testing of God. Although they had been delivered from Pharaoh\u2019s slavery, tragically, they never saw the Promised Land.<\/p>\n
They were saved, yet later destroyed.
\nThey were set free, yet later destroyed.
\nThey were healed, yet later destroyed.<\/strong><\/p>\nAnd what is even more heartbreaking is that they were destroyed while still eating manna<\/strong> (heavenly blessings), while still under the cloud and the pillar of fire<\/strong> (anointing and divine guidance), and after having been baptized into Moses through the Red Sea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
These things remain a lesson and warning for us, just as the Scriptures say:<\/p>\n
1 Corinthians 10:1\u201312 (ESV):<\/strong><\/p>\n
\u201c1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
\n2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
\n3 and all ate the same spiritual food,
\n4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
\n5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
\n6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.
\n7 Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, \u2018The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.\u2019
\n8 We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day.
\n9 We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents,
\n10 nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer.
\n11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.
\n12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nDo you boast in your baptism?
\nDo you boast in your denomination?
\nDo you boast in your spiritual gifts?
\nDo you boast in your anointing?<\/p>\nThe Israelites had all these things, yet many of them were destroyed.<\/p>\n
Purify your Christian walk. Stay far away from sin. Do not test God. Do not return to idolatry after being saved. Separate yourself from worldly things. Walk with God like Joshua and Caleb \u2014 and may the Lord help us all to do so.<\/p>\n
