(Matthew 6:21)<\/em><\/p>\n One unchanging spiritual law governs every human life: the heart always follows the treasure<\/strong>. These two can never be separated. Just as a body cannot be in one place while its feet are in another, your heart\u2014the center of your thoughts, emotions, desires, and decisions\u2014cannot remain somewhere your treasure has not been placed.<\/p>\n This is why people who invest their whole identity in worldly possessions crumble when those possessions disappear. If a person has stored all their treasure on earth and suddenly loses everything, they may feel empty, unstable, or even lose the will to live. Why? Because their heart\u2014meaning their hopes, ambitions, sense of worth, and direction\u2014was located in those possessions. When the treasure dies, the heart collapses with it.<\/p>\n Scripture makes this spiritual reality clear:<\/p>\n Matthew 6:21, ESV<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201c<\/strong>For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.\u201d This is not merely advice; it is a divine principle built into human nature by God Himself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n If your treasure is on earth, your heart will cling to earthly things. This is why Jesus did not simply command people to \u201cthink about heaven.\u201d Instead, He gave a practical way to direct<\/em> the heart toward heaven:<\/p>\n Not through emotion. Jesus explained this vividly in the story of the rich ruler:<\/p>\n Luke 18:22 (NKJV)<\/strong> Jesus was not demanding poverty. These actions move treasure upward<\/strong>, and when treasure goes upward, the heart follows upward.<\/p>\n Jesus repeats this truth again:<\/p>\n Luke 12:33\u201334 (ESV)<\/strong> When a person gives to God\u2014whether through serving, tithing, supporting the poor, advancing the Gospel, or offering their time and energy\u2014they are relocating<\/em> their treasure to heaven.<\/p>\n And as they do so:<\/p>\n Their thoughts<\/strong> begin to dwell on eternal things.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Their desires<\/strong> shift toward the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Their identity<\/strong> becomes anchored in Christ rather than earthly success.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Their affections<\/strong> rise toward the things above.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This aligns perfectly with Paul\u2019s instruction:<\/p>\n Colossians 3:2 (NIV)<\/strong> But Paul\u2019s command is not obeyed through willpower alone. Believers who continually give themselves to God\u2014 This is why such Christians often ask:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen will Christ return?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n \u201cHow close is the Rapture?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n \u201cHow can I prepare more for eternity?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n They don\u2019t force these thoughts; Their lifestyle mirrors Paul\u2019s words:<\/p>\n Philippians 3:20 (NKJV)<\/strong> If you want your heart to rise toward heaven\u2026<\/p>\n Your time<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your mind<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your body<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your worship<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your resources<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your service<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Your obedience<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n As you pour your treasure upward, your heart will follow upward<\/strong>, without struggle.<\/p>\n Over time, heavenly things become natural to you:<\/p>\n You begin longing to see Jesus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n You hunger for holiness.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n You desire eternity more than earth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n You see life from heaven\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This is what it means to be transformed from earthly-minded to heavenly-minded<\/em>.<\/p>\n If a person invests everything in the world\u2014 The gravitational pull of treasure is stronger than emotion, stronger than desire, and stronger than intention.<\/p>\n You cannot escape the rule Jesus established.<\/p>\n Your heart will always follow your treasure.<\/strong><\/p>\n Where is your treasure today? If your treasure is in heaven, your heart will be drawn upward toward God, eternity, and holiness.<\/p>\nLay up treasure in heaven.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Not through imagination.
But through action<\/strong>\u2014through giving, obedience, sacrifice, and kingdom investment.<\/p>\nHOW JESUS TAUGHT US TO LAY UP TREASURE IN HEAVEN<\/strong><\/h2>\n

their hearts naturally live in the direction of their treasure.<\/p>\n\n
