Blessed be the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome once again as we study the words of life from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).<\/p>\n

There is a common reality observed in many families: sons often develop a deeper emotional attachment to their mothers<\/strong>, while daughters tend to bond more closely with their fathers<\/strong>. Although this is not true in every situation, it is a widely recognized pattern across cultures and generations.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Bible also reveals this reality through repeated references to parental influence\u2014particularly the influence of mothers on their sons<\/strong>, especially sons who later became leaders and kings.<\/p>\n

Let us examine several biblical examples.<\/p>\n

\n

1. KING ZEDEKIAH<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n

\u201cZedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother\u2019s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 Jeremiah 52:1<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Scripture continues:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cHe did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.\u201d<\/em> (Jeremiah 52:2)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Bible deliberately mentions his mother\u2019s name<\/strong>, then immediately speaks of his rebellion and downfall. This pattern is not accidental.<\/p>\n

\n

2. KING REHOBOAM (SON OF SOLOMON)<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n

\u201cRehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king\u2026 His mother\u2019s name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 1 Kings 14:21<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cJudah did evil in the eyes of the LORD and aroused his jealous anger\u2026\u201d<\/em> (1 Kings 14:22)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Though Rehoboam was the son of Solomon and the grandson of David, his reign was marked by spiritual decline. His mother\u2019s foreign, idolatrous background is intentionally highlighted, revealing how maternal influence can shape a son\u2019s spiritual direction.<\/p>\n

\n

3. KING ABIJAH (ABIJAM)<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n

\u201cHe reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother\u2019s name was Maakah daughter of Abishalom.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 1 Kings 15:2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cHe committed all the sins his father had done before him; his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD\u2026\u201d<\/em> (1 Kings 15:3)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

4. KING AHAZIAH<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n

\u201cAhaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king\u2026 His mother\u2019s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 2 Kings 8:26<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cHe did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done.\u201d<\/em> (2 Kings 8:27)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Athaliah herself later became one of the most wicked women in biblical history (2 Kings 11). Her influence corrupted her son spiritually.<\/p>\n
