The Word of God is compared to a seed<\/strong> (Luke 8:11)<\/em>. A seed always has life, and when it is planted in a person, that life begins to manifest within them according to the growth of that seed. As the seed continues to grow, the character of that person gradually begins to change.<\/p>\n

It is important to understand that this transformation does not come from human effort. Rather, it is the seed planted within that brings change from one stage to another according to its growth.<\/p>\n

Our Lord Jesus Christ illustrated this truth:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain\u2014first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.\u201d<\/strong>

This parable reflects how the Word of God grows within a person. It begins as a seed when someone allows the Word to enter their heart. This happens through a genuine desire to learn the Word daily, to know God, and to study the Scriptures.<\/p>\n

As the seed is given the right environment through meditation, obedience, and spiritual hunger it begins to grow slowly and often unnoticed. A person then starts to experience transformation in behavior and lifestyle. They begin to lose interest in worldly things they once loved.<\/p>\n

This change does not come by self-effort. Instead, the person finds that desires for things such as smoking, alcohol, sexual immorality, and indecent living begin to fade away naturally. They may think they decided to stop, not realizing it is the Word (the seed) working within them.<\/p>\n

\n

THE STAGES OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1. The Leaf Stage (Spiritual Understanding Begins)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As the Word continues to grow, it becomes like a leaf<\/strong>. At this stage, a person\u2019s understanding of God expands. Spiritual awareness increases, and they begin to understand Scriptures they previously could not comprehend.<\/p>\n

This aligns with the work of the Holy Spirit:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness\u2026 but the person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things.\u201d<\/strong>

2. The Ear Stage (Spiritual Stability and Maturity)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The next stage is the ear<\/strong> (head of grain). Here, the believer matures and is no longer spiritually unstable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching\u2026 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.\u201d<\/strong>
