Shalom. Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus. Welcome to study the Bible with us. The Word of God says: Ephesians 5:9-10 – “(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth), and find out what pleases the Lord.” So, it is our daily duty to examine what pleases the Lord. Everything we do, everything we say, and everything we plan to do—we must ensure that it pleases God. Today, we’ll learn about what God looks at in a person. As many of us have heard, there is a common saying among many Christians: “God doesn’t look at outward appearance like clothing, but He looks at the heart.” This phrase is widespread; if you’ve never heard it, try asking 5 or 10 people—especially young women—and you’ll likely hear it from their mouths. First, it’s important to understand that humans are made up of two main parts: the inner being and the outer being. The inner being includes the soul and the spirit, while the outer being is our physical body. So there is both an inner man and an outer man (Read Romans 7:22, Ephesians 3:16). Now, the One who created the inner man is the same One who created the outer man. Therefore, both matter to Him. But when it comes to our personal worship and relationship with God, it is undeniable that God focuses on our inner being, not the outer. If He looked only at our bodies, He wouldn’t hear our prayers when we pray privately in our rooms, sometimes not fully clothed, or even while we pray in the shower. Clearly, God looks at our hearts more than our physical bodies. However, when it comes to being in public places—like in church or on the streets—you are not just before God alone, but also before other people. While God sees your heart, others only see your body. And when they see you half-naked or dressed indecently, it can stir lust, inappropriate thoughts, shame, stumbling, and even anger or offensive speech in their hearts. These are the things that displease God, because you cause others to sin. That’s why God commands us to dress modestly wherever we go: 1 Timothy 2:9 – “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control…” If you don’t do this, you are sinning by causing others to stumble. The Bible says: Mark 9:42 – “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.” You might not care that others are sinning because of you, but God cares deeply. That’s why His judgment is so serious—to the point that it’s better to be drowned than to cause someone to lust because of your dressing, or to lead someone to imitate your inappropriate dressing. If you’re feeling hot and want to pray or worship while wearing short clothes, then go to your house alone. Wear your short clothes there and lock yourself in a private place where no one can see you. Pray however you wish—God will not look at your clothes there, but at your spirit. But when you go out in public—that’s a whole different matter. Your clothing and appearance matter a lot. The Lord Jesus said: Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Now, if your “light” shines while you’re half-naked in public, who will look at your deeds and glorify God? If you cause even just one person to stumble—not 20, just one—that grieves God deeply. No one will lust after you if you are dressed in clothing that covers your body appropriately. Do not be deceived by satanic lies that tell you to walk half-naked in public or enter church in mini-skirts—it’s 100% a lie from the devil, stemming from a misinterpretation of scripture. Reject this false narrative that claims “God only looks at the heart.” When we talk about clothing, we’re not referring to jewelry or makeup! Items like lipstick, wigs, earrings, makeup, henna, tattoos, eyeliner, shaved eyebrows, or skin bleaching—these are abominations that the Bible clearly forbids (See 1 Timothy 2:9-10, Leviticus 19:28). You shouldn’t even wear these things while praying alone, because they are idols you’ve placed on your body. You cannot worship God while wearing idols on your head or body. 2 Corinthians 6:16-17 –“What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.’Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.’” May the Lord bless you greatly. If you are not saved yet—the door of grace is still open, but not for much longer. The way of life is getting narrower every day. Getting saved tomorrow will be harder than today. So decide now, because the Bible says: 2 Corinthians 6:2 – “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” Genuinely choose to repent of all your sins, with the full intention of turning away from them. After repentance, seek true baptism, which will complete your salvation. True baptism is by full immersion in water in the name of Jesus Christ, as shown in: Acts 2:38 – “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Then the Holy Spirit will seal you and make you His forever, giving you the power to overcome sin.
